I’m not sure this is progress. If you bought the paper edition of Sports Illustrated (for the office), you got the digital edition for free. The digital only prices also tend to be higher than the print versions if you look for “deals.” One of my favorite magazines, Soundings, also joined the Newstand, but if I want the digital I have to pay in addition to my remaining two year paper subscription.
That said, I love the digital Sports Illustrated because the electronic version nicely leverages the media opportunties. Time has done a very good job with it.
