Personal preference aside, do you Android supporters get nerd hard-ons from bashing Apple to yourself in the comments section of every Apple-related news post? It really comes across as that; you’re not doing yourselves any favours.

RE the post, I will be much more looking forward to the Nexus 10 over the iPad mini.

When apple is doing well, they never refer to a specific competitor’s product. They don’t want to give out free publicity. When they do single them out as is the case with Nexus 7 then you know Nexus 7 is doing well and you know its bugging apple to the point where they now have to justify their product and convince people away from N7.
I’m not really sure how you would convince people and at the same time highlight the fact that your product doesn’t even have GPS or that you’ve spent the last year hawking on retina display and then put out a product that is faaaar from it.

But all apple ends up doing is let millions of people know about Nexus 7 in detail. When apple started suing samsung apple gave samsung a whole new level of exposure. And for the past few years samsung has taken advantage of that and become a branding in consumer’s mind. So N7 should probably thank apple.

Except that isn’t true. It’s very compromised.

It may have a physically larger screen, but it doesn’t have “35% more screen area”, it actually has something like 15% less screen area than a Nexus 7 since you are limited to available pixels:
Ipad Mini – 1024×768
Kindle fire – 1280×800
Nexus 7 – 1280×800

In fact, the iPhone 5 almost beats it at 1136×640.

That also means it doesn’t have the picture quality of the very pixel-dense iPad – you don’t get anything close to a Retina Display with an iPad mini – even the Kindle Fire and Nexus 7 fall short of Retina quality:
iPad Mini – 163 ppi
Kindle Fire – 216 ppi
Nexus 7 – 216 ppi

And with regard to Steve Job’s point, and Apple trying to save face by employing the old “We aren’t following the market, we’re leading it!” Reality Distortion Field:
“Apparently .9-inches means the difference between usability and needing to sandpaper one’s own fingers.”

And the difference between the iPad mini and the iPad is and extra 50%. What does that mean. That would make the ipad mini useless wouldn’t it? Why can’t apple get it in their heads that people want different size products. Some people want big phones and some people want small tablets. A 16 inch tablet would have 172% extra area over and iPad. does that mean the ipad is useless? The only thing the mini has over the nexus is a camera. I myself am looking forward to the 6 inch sharp.

And apple did not make a complete iPad in a mini size. They put and inferior screen and processor. The don’t want to cannibalise sales from the ipad but from other manufacturers.

I always wondered why the unique size of 7.9″, and now it’s pretty clear it was just to give Apple wiggle room to get out of that statement Steve Jobs made about the 7-inch tablets that they must feel locked into.

The funny part is not that its smaller than the iPad. Its the fact that its still bigger than any pocket on any jacket or pants, meaning you still need to carry it in a bag, as opposed to the Nexus 7 which I can fit in a pocket.

This has always been my thought too. He bashed anything smaller than the iPad, and yet the root that the iPad grew from was the iPhone and iPod Touch, both way smaller. Glad I wasn’t the only one to think about that.

Didn’t the idea for the iPad mini come from one of their guys checking out the “competitions” 7″ tablet and thinking it was a good idea? I remember something like that was mentioned during apple vs Samsung trial; an email saying the employee shared his thoughts with Steve Jobs before he passed and said Jobs thought it was a good idea also.
