Canon has unveiled three new A series PowerShot in preparation of PMA 2008. The A470 is the lowest model with 7.1mp camera features 1/2.5” Type CCD sensor, 2.5” LCD display, Canon’s proprietary DIGIC III imaging processor with iSAPS technology, 3.4x optical zoom range of 38mm-132mm (35mm equiv.) without optical image stabilization and has ISO ranges from 80 to1600.

The camera doesn’t offer optical viewfinder option but is capable to capture movie mode up to 640×480 at 20fps. It runs on 2 x AA size batteries, supports supports SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus, HC MMCplus media storage and and comes with a free 32mb memory card. The A470 is available in silver, black, green and blue. It will be released around March with MSRP of $149.

The next Powershot is the A580 with 8mp 1/2.5” Type CCD sensor. It features 2.5” LCD display, Canon’s proprietary DIGIC III imaging processor with iSAPS technology, 4x optical zoom range of 35mm-140mm (35mm equiv.) with ISO ranges from 80 to1600.

The camera is capable to capture movie mode up to 640×480 at 20fps. It runs on 2 x AA size batteries, supports supports SD, SDHC, MMC, MMCplus, HC MMCplus media storage and comes with a free 32mb memory card. It also supports optional wide and tele-converter, close-up lens and conversion adapter. The A580 is available in silver only and will be released around March with MSRP of $150.

The last model A590 IS is essentially same as A580 with additional features like Optical image stabilization, aperture- and shutter-priority plus fully manual shooting modes. It is available in gray only and will be released around March with MSRP of $180.
