I like them except for the infantry only close quarters. No one plays TDM on BF3 because that is not what the series is famous for. It's just a map pack to try to win over COD gamers. The other two sound awesome though.

I agree with them giving out the mapping tools to the community. But from what I've seen , these maps have some really complicated scripting/alpha blending/triggers/clips/textures. I think It would probably take the top mappers (experts) a couple of months just to make 1 multiplayer map. DICE has full working knowledge of Frostbite, and it takes them forever.
I can only imagine how much it would take an independent mapper, regardless of his talent with Radiant or Valve's SDK/Hammer or other mapping utilities. I really think EA/Dice will release the mapping tools in a couple of years, once they have perfected it and can make it user friendly. I don't think they want people making custom maps, that constantly crash servers (that's what a badly made map will do), and that is why they rather do everything themselves.
It could be argued about the money thing, but from my mapping experience ( I suck but know what goes into making the maps for call of duty) , I think EA/Dice realize that they themselves are barely learning Frostbite 2, so it's pretty safe to assume that the old mappers can't make Frostbite 2 Ready maps just yet. Maybe in a year or 2, yea.

NO, i said "in the beginning stages of becoming". lol. but yea, im skipping CQB and waiting for Armored Kill. I think battlefield's engine, FrostBite 2, is way too complicated to release tons of maps and changes. =)
I used to make custom maps with Radiant on the early cod's Cod1 , UO, Cod2, and I can tell you, setting up the hit triggers for a patch(a patch in game is what appears to a player as a "structure i.e. buildings walls etc"), then scripting it to disappear and then reappear as "damaged" was really difficult back then. So I imagine with a modern engine it's alot easier to do ( I have not seen Frostbite's mapping interface or map scripts, only speculation).
I can only assume they go out and test every player clip/destructible patch, to make sure the player doesn't float/get stuck/disappears in it and the making sure the physics of the "debris" properly make them fall to the floor or wherever. . And with the grand size and destructible stuff of the battlefield 3 maps, I believe this is a very tedious and long complicated process.

Only reason im even slightly interested in close quarters is because of tbe HD destruction. Armored dlc sounds cool. I will be very disappointed if they dont offer some sort of air warefare dlc though.

June are u kidding me? Heck why not make it 2015 we should just wait till the release the next xbox. If dice wants to compete with COD here's a hint u had better speed up the dlc. COD has released multiple mw dlc already, and it released after bf3.If they won't work faster than that they should hand over the tools to build the game over to the public. Bf3s fan base could pump out Quality DLC faster than that case and point counterstrike. 6 months is too long, and that these dlc will cost a crap load is no mystery. Common boys u can do better than that.

DICE....if you're gonna wait almost 9 months since the game's release to put out new DLC, shouldn't the DLC be something better than some COD friendly "close quarters" mode? Armored Kill? sounds like standard BF3 gameplay to me. Where's the air-surperiority? Where's the Vietnam size expansion with new factions, weapons, vehicles, etc? B2K was cool, but Close Quarters? Just load Op Metro if you want to use shotguns.
