This track piece lets you drift Hot Wheels like a boss

Hot Wheels cars: you have likely played with them at some point or another, maybe stepped on one and took an impromptu slide across the floor. Near endless track arrays are available for playing with the miniature cars, but at the end of the day it all revolves around the same thing: rolling around. Just rolling. That is, unless you are Phil Foss, the man behind a new track piece that lets you drift Hot Wheels cars like a boss.

The track piece is called the Driftpad, and it is available from TYO Toys, measuring in at 16-inches x 20-inches with a smooth low-friction surface. That surface is what enables the drifting, cutting down on the friction between tires and surface to allow for maximum sliding effects.

You can see the drifting action for yourself in the video above. The Driftpad is on backorder at the moment, and won't start shipping again until February 16 (though if you're not in that earlier batch, you might end up waiting longer). If DIY is more your style, you can try making one yourself.

You'll need foamboard or cardboard, or some other material that has a suitable enough lack of friction. You can see an example of the setup in the video below, but if you go with that method, it might take a bit to get the drifting to look more like drifting rather than, you know, crashing or spinning out.
