This Nintendo Zapper Glock fires 9mm rounds

I'm pretty sure that the first gun of any sort that I ever held was grey and made of plastic. It had a red trigger, and I primarily used it for hunting ducks. Yes, it was the Zapper for the original NES. Well one handgun maker has dressed up a Glock to look just like that classic Nintendo accessory, and gotten a lot of heat over it.

As you can see from the picture above, the paint job does look strikingly like that of the original Zapper. Right down to the lettering on the side. Well, their paint job wasn't appreciated, as the company received thousands of complaints about the gun. No, they weren't angry Nintendo fans upset that they painted the trigger black, instead of red. Instead, they were from individuals worried that the company was going to produce a line of real guns that look like toy game controllers.

They received so many letters that they made a special post on their Facebook page. The post stated that "we feel that the media and our fans need to know that this firearm will not be mass produced nor will it ever be. This is a one off custom build for a friend of ours." Talk about a lot of bad press over a cool paint job.

I doubt that there was any way that Nintendo would have allowed them to mass-produce such an iconic design, especially on a real firearm. Also, I'm not sure how many minors actually know what a Nintendo Zapper even looks like. To them, it probably just looks like a grey gun that someone slapped the word "Nintendo" on. Maybe if the gun were painted like a Wiimote controller, they'd be more likely to think it was a toy.
