so many typos, I died of shame.. rewrote in shame..
"Well, like alcohol, some moderation gets you through for long .. Also I would like to have tier based friendships in FB.. like you can be friends but not receive their feeds.. It may be already there but I was lazy to look for it until now.. If one can use that, you can put people you want to keep in touch but not interact everyday in an outer circle but keep the ones you want to ‘follow’ in the inner circle.. hmm.."

I had one 2 years ago. Deleted ( or was it deactivated) 6 months. I do at times log on throught my friend's ( with his permission of course) to check on some close friend's pictures. It became an obsession, social animal..
Until one day I realised that I logged on every 10 mins on any given day. Thats when I realised I needed to stop. And I slowly did. To all, you dont need facebook. Its the new google, it just wants to sell ads and more of it.
Sure its the best thing since google and the dot com bust, but you dot need it to be more of a person. Period.

I was reading an article on the new Ford Focus Electric as I like to keep abreast of new things in the automotive world and was searching the page to see if there were any other interesting articles and came across yours. The Social Tide Receding HYM, that looks interesting. So I read your article and in it you mention that you feel sad for those of us who are not on FB. Well, I feel sad for you and my sons and their friends. It seems like a waste of time, just like My Space and the rest of those "I have to be in the know" sights. People putting their life out there for everyone to see. Like a bad Jerry Springer show. I look at it this way, if I wanted to stay friends with someone, I would
have. If they moved far away so be it. It was their responsibility for keeping in touch
with me. OH sure, I would occasionally pick up the phone but for the most part I left it up to them. People come and go in your life. Some become friends but most just remain acquaintances and of those that become friends, I feel it's better to stay in touch up close and personal (face to face). Look how much more time you'd have to do that if you didn't have your eye's glued to that FB page. Grab a 6'er and head over to your buddies house, after all, that's what friends are for.

I just got rid of it entirely because any time the friends I see on a regular basis didn't respond to my posts, I started to question their allegiance. That's when I knew I had a problem.

I refuse to let a website define my friendships and relationships with people I actually know, and I am waaaaay better off without it.
