The slightly steampunk violin mod

For anyone that is a major music lover and also enjoys when technology updates the classic instruments a bit, this mod is worth checking out. It was recently featured at Maker Faire.

It was created by Molly "Porkshanks" Friedrich for Nathan Johnstone, which is likely who was playing it at the Main Music Stage at Maker Faire over the weekend. The pretty but fake vacuum tubes have LED lights inside that flash pretty colors as it feels the strings vibrate.

I'm curious how the overall sound worked out at the Faire, since the shape of the violin is what creates the sound. Sadly no videos have popped up thus far to give a sampling as to what it sounds like. Either way, it definitely looks cool.
