The Sims 4 update frees up gender customization options

The Sims 4 has received a free update that is removing gender customization options, allowing for players to set up a more diverse range of Sims that express the features they want. If you want a female Sim with a manly walking style, a male Sim with a feminine voice, or any other arrangement, this update makes it possible.

"The Sims is made by a diverse team for a diverse audience," the developer said in a statement, "and it's really important to us that players are able to be creative and express themselves through our games."

Once you download the update, you'll get more than 700 bits of content to choose from for either gender Sim, whereas before they were split up and made available to either/or the two genders based on traditionally viewed traits.

The changes will affect physical attributes like tone of voice, style of walking, and physique type, as well as one's hair style, clothes, jewelry, and other accessories. It's a welcomed change for what was a pretty bizarre limitation, given some of the other changes one could make to their Sims, and no doubt will make a bunch of people who were unable to customize their Sims the way they'd like happy.

The update should be available to grab now, so if you have a copy of the game, make sure you're connected to the Internet and check for updates. Not familiar with some of the recent packs released for the Sims 4? Check out the timeline below for more details!
