I have said before that I have back problems and keeping good posture means my back won’t ache nearly as soon as it would if I were slouching. However, you get tired or get into a bit of PC gaming and slowly having decent posture is completely forgotten. This odd little pod is supposed to help with just that.

If you’re stuck at a desk all day, then when this Posture Pod is used properly it is supposed to decrease back, shoulder and neck pain. It will also help with tension headaches.

According to the site, by having this and sitting up straight it will improve your efficiency as well as productivity. The Posture Pod is being sold for $363 AUD.

  1. Huh. Interesting. Wonder if it’s comfortable. It looks like it probably is. The model looks cozy.

Thanks for sharing. I love to know about innovative products like this. (Found this post through your Twitter updates, FYI.)

    Hi,

I’ve not come across this product before – it looks good and very complementary to my own invention – PostureMinder software that reminds you about your posture whenever you sit badly.

However, it sounds pricey at AUD363 and I’d be concerned about it either not being used properly, or even of it encouraging you to sit rigidly in a single position. That’s not good – movement is important.

My software costs much, much less than this and is very effective at gradual encouraging users to make lasting changes to their posture and working habits. If you use it with a webcam, it will even check your posture every few seconds and remind you if you sit badly – not straight away as that would be irritating and discourage movement, but if you sit badly for minutes on end it’ll give you a friendly, targeted reminder.

There’s actually a free 14 day trial on our website if you’d care to try it – whether you have back pain or other aches and pains from using your computer, or just want to improve your posture to look and feel more confident and protect your health for the future.

At AUS $363 this seems pricey for a curvey piece of injection molded plastic, but the principle looks like a good idea. I would prefer to be able to lean back slightly, surely there are other egonomic add on desktops out there which might be a little more reasonable in cost.

Seems like it would be better if it were built into the chair, not the desk.
