Truly Apple and Samsung are tough competitors in mobile market but as far as TV is concerned it depends on the device proficiency. But Samsung is stable in this market.

If Apple ever did come out with a TV it would only cater the the extremely wealthy. I simply don’t have 3k to spend on a 20″ tv from Apple. Besides, neither will do well if they don’t include free content.

They literally shipped maybe 10 or 15 consoles to each best buy a week, you had to wait in line call everyday , let me guess they did the same thing? Don’t be stupid they ship as many as they can ! All of the apple haters here need to wake up! Correct me if I’m wrong but apple didn’t create the mobile market but the made it what it is now, be it tablet, phone, home computer!that left everyone else scrambling to copy them! I could be wrong but apple just won against htc in court, they will beat Samsung as well! And mark my words if apple enters the tv market they won’t copy any one! They will revolutionize the industry and everyone else will scramble to copy again! Yes a lot of tv’s are out with wifi and all that blah blah blah, but apples will work better and do more than the competition! In fact they won’t have any competition just copycats! Stop hating on apple if you have an mp3 player say thank you , if your phone has a marketplace , say thank you , if you have an iPad or iPhone you already know the truth, STOP HATING!!!

Have you tried using Siri in a noisy environment? Its fails, hardcore. Can you imagine what it would be like trying to shout at your TV during a action movie with large explosions – Siri pause movie. SIRI PAUSE MOVIE!! I SAID SIRI PAUSE MOVIE!! Voice recognition has come a very long way, but its still far from using it with a loud TV.

Well said. I still have my 50″Samsung plasma that I got 4 years ago and the tv has given me no issues at all and won’t get replaced till its completely dead. And no way am I coughing out another 1k+ like I did for my 50″. I also got new led tvs for me parents and my wife’s parents this holidays. Therefore no room for apple tv.

Samsung TV has PVR built in, plays MKV, MP4, H264 and a bunch of other formats straight off USB NTFS/FAT32 harddrives, does DLNA media sharing out of the box through wifi or ethernet, supports standard HDMI-CEC so I can integrate any other media device like PlayStation 3 with the touch of a button. based on Apple’s track record I would expect none of these on their iTV. coupled with their usual ignorant attitude towards locking down their system and in your face pricing.

When I am looking to buy a TV, Im looking to buy a TV, not a one way ticket to prison.

Hard decisions? I think not.

Apple doesn’t have a chance to make money in the TV business, unless they release a 55″ 4K2K Quad-HD 2160p TV for less than $2000. But even then, the margin per sold TV is smaller than the margin they are currently making per sold iphone. Much fewer TVs are sold then iPhones, thus there is not one chance Apple can make any significant money on TV.

And you must be joking, you can get a 42″ 1080p HDTV for $300 at Costco and Best Buy. Give up man, nobody wants to pay crazy amounts for a HDTV. Even the 55″ 4K2K Quad-HD 2160p TV market for below $2000 is still limited to about 5% of the population for now.

Most people focus too much on Apple hardware. The true advantage with an Apple TV are the services, media and software. Samsung doesn’t’ really have an ecosystem like apple does. maybe samsung might lose a lot of sales of high end TV’s, but the the companies who will feel the hurt most are the ones who have products that compete content in the iTunes store. retailers of physical media of movies, tv shows, video games. tv broadcasters might even be in trouble if apple implements a DVR in the cloud and streaming internet TV channels.

correction….samsung has been the 2nd largest mobile phone maufacturere in the world for a long time now. they jumped in the SMARRTPHONE market rececntly. samsung is about to overtake Nokia in the general handheldmarket to number one, but in smartphones, already number one ;) only Americans don’t seem to know this…ahhh…i gguess i’m american…so there’s one american who knows this
