Nice comparison! Clear me the differences totally, and this one is more clearer than the one I read in Aneesoft iPad column.
Well, I like the new iPad, the retina display, better camera and better responsiveness are killer feature of the new iPad! I went to the Apple sale store tried the New iPad, I really like the the retina display and better camera. Im a iPad 1 user, and didn't upgrade to the iPad 2 just wait for the new iPad, would get my new iPad soon! Hope can get much surprises from it and surprised with mirror playing 1080p on the TV!

No! It's not.
When Apple "invented" this BS , they clearly set the "standard" - over 300ppi to be "retina display" .
Actually it must be even much more :
"Soneira stated that the resolution of the human retina is higher than claimed by Apple, working out to 477 ppi at 12 inches (305 mm) from the eyes, or 36 arcseconds per pixel.[44]"
Besides people don't look at phones and tablets from different distance .
Apple just change their "standard" to market iPad like "retina display". It's ridiculous because with this new lie, any HD TV, and not only HD, could be called "retina display if you look at it from good distance:)

it is retina because when you hold the iPad away from your face its usually farther (14-16in) than the iphone at 12in the distance makes your eye percive the 36 arcseconds you said
basiaclly the farther your eye from the thing the lower ppi needed to percive the lower ppi as retina resouloution

besides the only way you could tell is if you held the iPhone 4 and "new" iPad up together at teh same distance

The most logical reason I heard was that you hold the iPad farther away than an iPhone. Greater distance means you can achieve the same arcseconds per pixel. Makes sense to me but I don't have any evidence to show if there is a difference in how far people hold a tablet versus a phone. I do know if somebody decides to put out a 7" Android tablet with the new 1920x1200 standard, it will qualify for retina display under the original iPhone 4 conditions.

i have ipad 1 too. and it is still better compared to most tablets that came out last year.

ipad 1 is not outdated, since i don't have a new usecase that it can't do well.

i will still buy an ipad 1 when mine dies, but only if the price by then is 99$. otherwise i'll buy the next best thing.

By the way, why all the menial blogs strongly call the screen .of "new"
iPad... Retina display? This has nothing to do with fictional Apple's
"standard" - over 300 ppi . The new iPad has 264 ppi !! I'm asking
Slash Gear also. Incidentally, the very "standard" smells BS :-"Soneira
stated that the resolution of the human retina is higher than claimed by
Apple, working out to 477 ppi at 12 inches (305 mm) from the eyes, or
36 arcseconds per pixel.[44]" - from Wiki. Licking, licking Apple :)
Is it for free???
