There a very few people that care who the key grip was. Convert the credits to a social bit on the marketing website for the film. So true credit fans can get a real connection with the staff. That might even make me interested. Just pop a url in at the end that says “Go to blah. blah .com and connect with the cast and crew to learn more about the film. Then you could follow interesting people on twitter and such and see what else they have made and what is coming next from them.

For people who aren’t interested it’s like being forced to read all the name tags of the pimp faced teenagers that made your McDonald’s cheeseburger.

Turn it into a real marketing opportunity, you have just primed an audience for two hours and you would rather make them read names than throw in a call to action? That’s a bit insane.

Why are clickbait tech opinion pieces always on the side of anonymizing the work of creative folks? A film or piece of music is a team effort. Personally, I would like to know who your editor is. Oh wait, it’s the web, everyone edits themselves.

They have been rolling credits long before you came on the scene. Why don’t you buck the trend when you make your film. I doubt you could get anyone to sit through the movie let alone stay seated to see who is responsible.

BTW- I liked the movie, but the stinger turns it into something stupid.
But overall, I agree that it’s crappy storytelling. Leave it to nerdy hints about new movies, or to outtakes.

If people leave DURING the credits, they can get the theater ready for the next showing, but those that stay, delay getting it cleaned up. Yeah, it’s only 5-10 minutes, but take a 10-12 hour shift that the theater is open, it adds up.
