You had me right up until the end. New features are exactly why one SHOULD be an early adopter. I was perfectly happy with my iPhone 3GS until that darn Steve Jobs went and demonstrated FaceTime on the iPhone 4. I recognized the significance of FaceTime and how it would affect my life, so I purchased the iPhone 4 immediately after launch. I now use FaceTime everyday and can not imagine life without it. :-)

You see, where it all falls down is when you have friends...

I don't often get to play games these days, but when I do it's normally COD or Fifa. Recently mainly COD, I could have bought an old COD game, and no doubt it would be good, but would any of my friends be playing? Nope.

So don't early adopt, or late adopt; adopt at the pace your friends adopt :)

That is funny because I consider idiots who give a damn about being early adopters or late adopters as requirements for intelligence idiots.

That's exactly the place I've been for the last five years. I usually carry a lag of about a year on my gaming purchases. Haven't paid more than $20 for a game in a long time. The thing is, once you build your lag, you can always count on a AAA game hitting your price point by the time you run out of things to play (unless its a Nintendo title, those never come down in price). Think of it as your "launch", a game launches for me when it hits $20. If you haven't played the game, its new to you, and just as fun as it was for early adopters the year before.

The dark side of this strategy is that if everyone started doing it, the industry would go broke. Fortunately I don't think that's going to happen.

Now excuse me as I go and finish Banjo Kazzoie Nuts and Bolts, which I got for $10 a couple of weeks ago.

Moronic. The latest greatest stuff is fun for some people. I consider late adopters idiots and don't associate with them. Atari is exactly what I see in my head when I hear someone dosen't have an iPad or tries to explain why a new product isn't worth an upgrade.
