My understanding is that the Japanese Government have asked foreigners and tourists to leave as they just don’t have the infrastructure there to accomodate everyone. So many of their own people are homeless extra people turning up would only make problems worse for them. So best to respect their wishes. There are funds set up to donate to them. You could contact one of these funds to find a way to help there; perhaps organise a fund raiser so you could help financially. Far better idea than turn up and cause them even more problems. Just the way it is.

It’s extremely insensitive. Think of people watching and maybe recognizing family members right there on T.V., when they are hoping that their loved ones are still alive. Maybe it’s because there is more of a chance of people here in the U.S. being related to people in Japan (there’s Navy bases and some American school teachers and such working over there). Either way I don’t care to see it.

helping heart is doing a great job with the terrible crisis Japan is going threw. On their site u can donate to red cross, and 100′s of other organizations. Now a days they all work together. just make sure u read their site before u make a choice. but i personally like HH helping heart

If you are a member of a professional rescue team, have experience in disaster management, have medical knowledge, building knowledge or police knowledge, then get in touch with your closest Japanese embassy.If you do not have any experience in the fields the Japanese currently need, contact the embassy and ask them in what manner can you help
