After 10 years of cart-blanche opportunity on the mobile platform, Microsoft have arrived at their demise with mobile with the same protectionist rear-view mirror that put them behind at the advent of the internet. Having failed to oust Google before they became the force they are today, this company embodies the values of sloth and retardance.

The BlackBerry was an incredibly niche product that has built it's appeal on fast communications and apps that people want. The iPhone is the slick new-media slab that oozes user-friendliness. It even integrates with Microsoft technology.

Microsoft's answer? Me-too tech. Let's copy or emulate what the market is doing in the hope of success. Let's (when android is free...) charge manufacturers with complex tariffs and alienate our development platform in the hope that business and consumers love it.

So failed. So good to see a company trying to squeeze another buck out of everyone losing so healthily. Keep going Microsoft!

Interesting take, still born - I like that phrase. I happen to like Windows 7 a good deal. It is hard to write MSFT off they are still in the top 3 of most valuable companies in the world.

I'm quite worried about those who have relied on Microsoft for some time now selling their future from one company (Microsoft) to another (Google).

It will be interesting to see how this pans out.

Please elaborate how that doesn't make any sense? Apple's proprietary approach to software as well as hardware now as they seek to vertically integrate even more by creating their own silicon is like no one else making computers. They are clearly different good or bad then their competition.
