The Evil Within trailers give in-depth Mikami perspective

This afternoon the development teams at Bethesda and Tango Gameworks have let loose massive amounts of detail in and around their next game "The Evil Within." This game will be a horror game, if you did not know, complete with Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language.

Shinji Mikami also appears in this series of videos. This fellow is best known for creating Resident Evil, the genre beginner – the firestarter! Shinji Mikami is the founder and CEO of Tango Gameworks, and he's worked on everything from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" for Game Boy to Aladdin for Super Nintendo.

Shinji Mikami famously created his first Resident Evil game in response to the less-than-fantastic 1979 film Zombie by Lucio Fulci. The game was called Biohazard in production and Resident Evil upon release, bringing about one of the first big success stories in a game for the original PlayStation in 1996.

In April 2012, Mikami revealed that Tango would be working on a game with codename Zwei (the number 2 in German). He suggested that the game would be a "true survival horror game" with Edge, going on to suggest that this game would be "one in which the player confronts and overcomes fear."

Again because of his "disappointment" in the current state of horror – this time in the horror game universe that he essentially pioneered – he brings Zwei – what was officially named The Evil Within – to the public.

This game will be released on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC on Tuesday, October 14th, just in time for you-know-what. Pre-orders get some sort of Fighting Chance Pack – like you need that, fan!

Better get some protective eyewear while you're prepping for the release. Of that you can be sure.
