I like the idea that the unique texture would instantly let you know if you were in the right or wrong place, but you don’t need that exaggerated texture… read up on braille.
Even regular keyboards have minute nubs that feel like mountains when you touch them on the F and J keys to help you find home.

it would also help with cost, unless there’s a process (maybe laser burning?) that can print on such a textured surface.
