The Division's open beta is coming soon

We've been waiting around for Tom Clancy's The Division since it was announced back in 2013. Originally we'd been told that the game would be released in 2014, then it got moved back to 2015. The current release date is March 8, 2016, and it doesn't look like we'll be seeing any further delays.

After playing in the closed beta for a bit a couple of weeks ago, I'm really looking forward to the real deal. Unfortunately, not every was lucky enough to get into that, so Ubisoft is opening it up to the public starting February 19 on PC and PS4. If you're an Xbox One gamer, you'll get access to the open beta a day early, starting on February 18. Regardless of your platform, the open beta will end just a short time later, on the 21st.

Thankfully, this time around Ubisoft is allowing everyone to download the game before they get into the beta. You'll be able to download it as early as February 16th. If you were waitlisted last time, you couldn't download the game early. So depending on your connection, and when you were accepted, you lost a fair bit of time simply waiting around.

So what's going to be different this time around? Ubisoft hasn't specified what, if anything, will be different about the open beta. We do know that they're hoping to use this as a stress test, due to the higher volume of people that will be able to access the game. I'm not sure how many changes they'll be able to make before the game goes live, since that only gives them a little over two weeks to do so.
