The Pixel is the best thing that ever happened to the infinitely more versatile, business-friendly Microsoft Surface Pro. I looked at that when it arrived and felt $1,000 was outrageous. Thanks to the Pixel, that price now looks reasonable!

HFS+ based on Apple Iic file system. Thanks for a post with so many buzz words trying so hard to sound smart and failing with a complete lack of knowledge. Spectacular. I love how you put Android's sluggish behavior, a direct result of Google's poor architectural design choices, as being a result of Apple's HFS+. Classic.

The question is, do you actually believe your rubbish?

What does this fool think Chrome OS is derived from? lol.... how about Ubuntu? hahaha..... Chrome OS is based on Ubuntu fool. Which means it's running on a full Linux SE (NSA Secure Linux) kernel edition with full Touchscreen Framework, Native Client Framework and a whole slew of Services and Frameworks sandboxed away from the hardware like a Live Running Linux distro w/ Chrome Browser as the GUI! .....and with Apps running in the browser instead of on the desktop. With 1 Terabyte of fully encrypted space on Google Drive, this Chrome Pixel is a bargain, even other Apple loving blog freaks online are loving! hahaha.....

What's wrong with that? Not a dam thing..... except to iDiots who can't wrap their iBrainwashed Mind around the simplicity of the Cloud Computing Concept. Just like Chris Burns here. Apple can't run a native Touchscreen GUI in OS X. Why? .....because the framework isn't written in the kernel along with the myriad of abstraction layers on it's pieces and parts legacy antiquated file system, legacy old Mac code from the 80's, BSD kernel and NeXTStep GUI (talk about old Windows on DOS.... lol...). To get that all working, they depend on several different virtual sub file system for everything from iTunes to Spotlight, and why is that?

Because HFS+ is lost in it's roots developed for original Apple/Apple IIc computers running on single threaded processor chips then got renamed. Therefore even when renamed/rewritten for Macs in 1982/1983 it was still incapable of running pervasive multi-threaded operations. So instead OS X and by default iOS.... by inheritance.... can't either. All running processes on the main HFS+ system must run stacked one after the other without any true multi-tasking ever available. Instead of like every other major modern OS that doesn't have to suspend an App to run another one! (Note: ZFS would have solved this problem, but would have required a ground up rewrite too)

This is the primary reason iOS only appears to be faster than Truly Fully Multi-tasking Android, Linux, Windows etc! ......if Apple fans, such as Chris Burns here, want Apple to really innovate for their Future, they'll have to do a complete ground up re-write instead of only simulating a touchscreen interface and multi-tasking using copious amounts of 'Magical' Smoke and Mirrors! ....and the reality is Apple will have to face neglecting to dump backwards compatibility when writing Mac OS back when they first put their Hodgepodged OS X together. How absurd that they even kept it when designing iOS..... the fools. So now they are STUCK in a Backwards Compatible HELL of their own making!

Google and Samsung are now the INNOVATION KING OVERLORDS over Apple. Because instead of just sitting on a pile of Revenue/Cash.... they've been spending it up on their FUTURE!!! ;-p .......leaving Apple twiddling their thumbs from behind themselves and their competitors!

That picture of the macbook with touchscreen is taken out of context.
It was more of a joke image, Steve Jobs announced that the macbook was getting touch controls and said something along the lines of "Now when people think of touch controls they generally think of something like this" and showed the audience that picture. He then went on to explain why Apple thought touchscreen laptops weren't all thatt great, and then explained the touch controls was the new trackpad.
What???

"The internet is not ready for touch."

Virtually every 'app' on your idevice (and every mobile device), is a child of or dependent upon browser (InterNet) based applications.

Even angry birds style apps were little Java based browser apps before they came to mobile.

Let me explain for the millionth time what ChromeOS is:

A browser.

What is the most used application type EVER? You guessed it, a browser.
Put a top of the line monitor in a laptop case to run ... wait for it ... a BROWSER! Imagine that!

For a very large percentage of the world's technical crowd, our apps and data are already on-line.

If you travel away from WiFi a lot then you need to wait for the LTE version, but for many of us we are always in range of WiFi, and all we do are connected activities.

For me personally, this would be amazing to travel with.

When Google Docs apps can print natively, like Polaris Office does on android, I will be getting one of these for my wife.

No matter how good the hardware is, we need a OS that can do more and buyers can justify spending $1300 on a laptop.
