Texas Instruments unveils dual-output power supply that improves AMOLED picture quality

Aug 12, 2010

Texas Instruments has announced a new dual output power supply that promises to be able to improve the image quality offered by an AMOLED screen. The dual output power supply is called the TPS65137.

The device has a wide input voltage range of 2.3V to 5.5V allowing the device to accept higher input voltages and still be able to regulate the output voltage within 1%. The ability to keep the output power consistent improves the load transient response and has minimal output voltage ripples for a better picture.

Other features of the power supply include advanced power save mode with out-of-audio control to reduce the switching frequency as the load decreases. This allows high efficiency without creating audible noise. The TPS65137 is available now for $0.85 each in quantities of 1000.
