It seems not all is well with the Tesla Roadster. According to Martin Eberhard, the former CEO and co-founder of Tesla Motors, the car apparently wastes a lot of energy when just sitting parked.
It seems the ESS pump runs coolant through the battery all the time, even when the car is not in operation. So that means the car could be sitting parked and so long as there is a battery charge, it will continue to pump coolant.
Eberhard then figured out 22% of the car’s battery life was being sucked away just while being parked! That’s really rather unfortunate and can cause the pump to wear out much faster than it should.
