I completely agree, but your missing one key point. SpaceX has yet to kill
anyone. Unfortunately Space hardware is expensive for one reason only,
PAPERWORK. SpaceX has none!
The day SpaceX kills someone or several someones
it will cost just as much as NASA because no one will accept a failure like that
again. And the only way anyone has come up with to prevent it is to check and
balance everything with paper.

What would happen to SpaceX when they
collide with the Space Station and destroy it, killing everyone aboard?
"Oh
well we cut cost by reducing our testing, and decided our software was perfect.
We had no idea that glitch was there."

NASA has been running countless
monte carlo simulations on SpaceX's software and they keep finding issues. If
those issues aren't caught and that situation happens 20 feet from the station
you can kiss that space station goodbye. Which is the situation that happened
with the russian cargo ship that collided with the solar panel years ago. Can
you imagine the added checks and balances that happened due to that?

NASA promised a gullible Congress a $7 million/launch 'cheap, safe, reliable' Space Shuttle.. yet delivered a $1.5 billion/launch pork white elephant boondoggle which killed 2 crew, had multi-year service outages... whose bankrupting costs canceled dozens of actual worthy projects...
Then NASA's Constellation booster/capsule project was failed/canceled after wasting $20 billion and 10 years..

While SpaceX developed entirely new boosters/engines/capsules for $300 million...

NASA's unneeded tests are delaying this launch..adding useless costs.... just as NASA red-tape delayed SpaceX previous launch... and just as NASA delayed spaceX to November, then to January, now to April..

Every American space enthusiast should be cheering for SpaceX to rescue us from a NASA which has wasted 40 years and $500 billion without getting a single American more than 300 miles from earth... leaving us begging/buying rides from Russians..

So, we can begin today to use the SpaceX Falcon, Dragon to return to the Moon, put an American on Mars.. using on-orbit module connection/fueling...
Instead, Congressional pork driven NASA is blowing $60+ billion on an unneeded/unwanted SLS/Orion for pure earmarked political pork to 'big space' legacy corporate partners..

Shameful, immoral.... but typical Govt pork/waste

Yeah I heard of it, it failed 3 times, and it flew once launching what??
And that's the last we heard of it.
Also it was never reused like he promised.
First stage was sold to the media as a completely reusable stage.
He never recovered any of the stages from the first three launches and never spoke of the fourth one. Which I heard was lost at sea because all the GPS responders failed to transmit.

Also heard when the GPS responders failed Mr. Musk sent a message to his engineering staff who was responsible for the GPS equipment that if the stage wasn't located they were all fired. Sounds like a great up and coming company.

AND he promises to have the Falcon 9 first stage completely reusable, which he has yet to show.
Has anyone seen what hardware looks like after being submerged in ocean water for even just a few hours. Salt water is extremely corrosive which Mr. Musk learned on his first Falcon 1 launch when the steel B-nuts rusted just sitting in the ocean air. Then the first Falcon 1 nose dived into the ocean. Sounds like he really planned well to have the first stage reusable...
Lets use materials that are cheap and corrosive in a salt air environment and then plunge it into the ocean. We'll just wash it off once we fish it out.

Once again he's selling everyone an empty bag of promises.
If he can make a cheap vehicle that is reliable then so be it, but stop the bull sh**.

"The SpaceX group, on the other hand, has contracts to launch several satellites and will be shipping cargo to the International Space Station starting in April."
Well this article was definitely backed by Mr. Musk. This quoted line alone says the article author has no clue.
In April SpaceX has a launch to prove if they can even get close to the Space Station. This launch has been delayed since last June, gee what happened to quick turn arounds and launches every week? The first launch they orbited a whopping once around the Earth. The cargo delivery missions I'll bet is easily another 2 years out. Elon knows the price he's telling everyone is full of crap. And he's learning that as he's finding out how tedious precise space flight is. Anyone can lob a rock but when you actually need to hit a specific location and do it every time it cost a bit more than $5000.

Now I'm all for more people starting companies and getting into the game of space flight but stop the bull sh**. Elon has done nothing yet accept build a rocket and claim it's cheap. The only reason space flight is so expensive is because people have been doing it for 50+ years. Problems have occurred and checks and balances were put in place to avoid those lessons brought about by failure. Elon has no one telling him he's failed even if he has.

Here's another quote loaded with bull sh**. “SpaceX, in terms of launches awarded, is the world leader in space launch. We’re beating the Russians, the Chinese, the Europeans, everyone.” – MuskA WORLD LEADER IN SPACE LAUNCH?!! REALLY?!!! What the heck has he launched?Wow your a world leader in taking future orders, but have yet to deliver... I guess that Paypal experience really paid off. It's great he's trying to get this commerical space flight off the ground, but for god sakes give credit where credit is due, stop giving props for nothing but hot air.
