Apple opened close to 30 stores in the last two months for this very reason.

Now with 357 stores world-wide, iCloud & iOS 5 a couple of days away and 133,000 native ipad apps. Apple’s going to be hard to beat by placing some lame tablets closer to the smartphones.

All these tablets are doomed to the HP tablet heap.

You’re definitely correct, Chris. I go to best buy and they have tablets galore where people can see, touch, and play with. In fact, after playing with the HTC Flyer for about 20mins, i purchased the tablet along with the magic pen, case, $70 protection plan and after taxes..i spent a small fortune. Kudos to Best Buy for having a knowledgeable salesman and the wide variety of tablets that you can actually play with instead of just sitting behind a glass door or covered with plastic.

OR they could just hire some staff that’s actually dedicated to the mobile part of the business instead of having people roaming all around the electronics area with just a general knowledge of everything. Everyone could learn a good lesson from Best Buy.

When accessible at my Target the android tablets were a mess with what customers had done with them. Icons flooding the screens. A fingerprint mess. A browser full of porn bookmarks. Etc..

What they need is to be sold behind the counter like cameras where staff can demonstrate and provide access for sincere customers, as well as keep them free of mischief and fingerprints.

From someone else who lives in the cities, this seems a bit ridiculous. The iPad deserves the front and center spot, and Target – if they care about their customers – should keep the Android junk as far away from front and center as possible.

They are doing a disservice to the community by selling those things as they are today.

Amazon is the only one that will have an Android worth buying, and its not really even the Android that Fandroids drool over.

I’m a financial analyst who’s worked with a few Fortune 500 companies and one thing I learned is this. Companies have only one bias and it’s to the dollar. You bring in more dollars you get better treatment. I think the Target forcasting group has written off the current batch of Android tablets and is waiting until they improve to give them prime real estate. And in truth, they do suck.
