ZeeVee’s ZvBox media streamer surprised many with the outpouring of excitement about being able to distribute computer-based (or streamed) media, together with 5.1-channel surround sound, over standard home coax wiring.  Set to release on June 31st, the system hooks up to your PC via USB and then squirts whatever is capable of being displayed on the monitor to any number of ZvBox receivers.  The company were demonstrating ZvBox at CONNECTIONS 2008 recently, and eHomeUpgrade shot a couple of videos of it in action.

This week’s highlight has been the SlashGear team knuckling down to cover HTC’s London launch of the Touch Diamond smartphone.  Our hands-on video of the Windows Mobile 6.1 device is pulling in some serious views, so if the thought of a 3G iPhone is leaving you cold then you need to be checking out the competition.

Meanwhile, budget ultraportables continued their onslaught, with pre-order pricing for both MSI’s Wind and HP’s XP version of the 2133 Mini-Note announced.  ASUS hasn’t been letting the grass grow under them either, confirming that the Eee PC 900 will hit the US on May 12th.  Slightly bigger, word of Dell’s upcoming Inspiron 1435, 1535 and 1735 ranges leaked, bringing with them some of the XPS’ specs including optional 3G and Blu-ray.

ZeeVee have announced their ZvBox media streamer, intended to make sharing content either stored on, or streamed to, your home computer viewable on every HDTV in your home.  Connecting to the computer’s VGA port, the ZvBox then creates a custom RF channel that’s distributed via the building’s existing coax wiring.  Since at its most basic it merely displays exactly what is being shown on the PC’s display, there are no codec, DRM or other restrictions as often found on traditional media streamers; as long as your computer can play it, you can view it via ZeeVee.
