Muhahaha! Four, BILLION, dollars. Yes, mister Powers, if you believe a lovely story from Yahoo Financial News you'll know that earlier this year Google thought through the notion of buying the entirety of Twitter for somewhere around $2.5 billion US dollars. Their offer didn't end up being officially announced, but apparently it did go down. But that's not the end, according to YFN again, Twitter felt insulted! And Google offered more. , Oct 14th 2010 Discuss [2]

The search engine market is one that tends to change only slightly for the most part with Google dominating, Yahoo coming in second, and Microsoft the perennial third place. That market has changed a bit since Yahoo started using Bing search results, but Yahoo and Microsoft are still reported separately by Comscore. Read The Full Story

Yahoo!'s deal with Microsoft has reached its first major milestone, with the company turning off its own search engine technology this week and shifting all North American web, image and video queries over to the Bing engine.  Other geographical sites (and languages - right now only the English searches have transitioned) will follow "in the weeks and months ahead" according to Microsoft. The Next Great Tech Rivalry

, Jun 4th 2010 Discuss [6]

The consumer electronics industry has had its share of great rivalries. Apple vs. Microsoft; Microsoft vs. Google; Google vs. Yahoo; and though these companies surely remain in competition, the intense rivalries that drive product development and benefit the consumer have mostly faded. Apple and Microsoft may jockey for position in measurements of market capitalization, but they’re both successful with dramatically different product categories now. Microsoft may want a piece of Google’s search pie, but Google holds a commanding lead that seems unlikely to falter. And do I have to even explain how Yahoo is no longer competitive with Google?

Nokia and Yahoo! deal for mobile services imminent?

, May 21st 2010 Discuss [0]

Nokia are going full-steam ahead with their own package of services - the feature-toting update to Ovi Maps earlier this week is proof of that - but are they also planning a deal with Yahoo! which will see the latter company's email, search and other applications and services built into certain Nokia models?  That's what AllThingsD are reporting, having been invited to Yahoo!'s "Project Nike" launch next week with the promise of "an exciting announcement about providing global consumers with rich online and mobile experiences".  They dug around and came up not only with the Nokia connection but some particularly snide comments about both firms. LG Plasma HDTV CES 2010 range boast super-narrow bezels

, Jan 6th 2010 Discuss [0]

In comparison to their huge 2010 LCD range, LG's new plasma HDTVs are conspicuous by their scarcity: the company have announced a mere eight new sets at CES 2010.  Among those six, however, are some impressive sounding beasts and some mighty fine design.  LG's TruSlim Frame models, for instance, the PK550 and PJ350, have bezels just 0.9-inches wide; all of the 2010 sets are around two-inches deep, too, and LG have shaved off considerable weight as well.
