Sega Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed announced

If you have been gaming for a long time you certainly know Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic is the most iconic of all Sega gaming characters. Sonic and some of his pals are coming to a new video game called Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. This racing game reminds me a lot of Mario Kart on some levels with a significant twist. Would You Play Mario and Zelda On the Xbox?

Last week, I ruffled the feathers of some Nintendo fans who took issue with my contention that the company will no longer chart gaming’s future. As popular as the game company appears to be, it’s losing ground to Microsoft and Sony. And as time goes on and it consistently fails to deliver next-generation ideas, it’ll only continue to lose ground.

Xbox sales slide as Xbox 720 hunger increases

, Apr 20th 2012 Discuss [1]

Demand for Microsoft's Xbox 360 has slumped, with underwhelming sales pushing the company's usually high-flying Entertainment & Devices Division to post an atypical loss. While Microsoft's overall made a profit in Q1 2012, the Xbox team saw a 16-percent decrease in profit in its division. The company blamed lower demand for the aging console, as well as increased research, development and marketing costs for Windows Phone, which also falls under the divisional umbrella. , Apr 19th 2012 Discuss [0]

It's time for Microsoft's fiscal third-quarter earnings report, and it's looking like the entertainment business is the hero here - though not in the way Microsoft would like. It appears that Microsoft's entertainment business has had a bit weaker sales than the company would like, while several other segments had rising revenues at the same time. Microsoft showed its Office suite of software products to be helping the company through a lull in personal computer sales this quarter. Read The Full Story

Keep the Discs in my Xbox and PlayStation

The prognostication on the next generation of consoles has begun. Like Federal elections, it probably began the minute the last generation hit the market. No sooner does the Playstation 3 hit the market than spectators start wondering about the PlayStation 4. Did they expect Sony or Microsoft to roll over and play dead? Well, in the case of Sega, this may have actually happened. But while I enjoy a good product rumor as much as the next tech junkie, I think that it is not only too early to start discussing the next generation of console, it might even be dangerous for us, the players.

PlayStation Orbis and Xbox 720 both restrict “used” games

Console game giants Microsoft and Sony may be ushering in a new era of media control with their Xbox 720 and PlayStation Orbis systems as both have been tipped this month to be placing unheard-of controls on so-called "used" games. These tips would have the next-generation console gaming systems both cutting down on game rental and sales services like GameStop and would essentially put online re-sales of games at a standstill. How this will affect sales of the consoles themselves is yet to be seen. Read The Full Story

Many of the big video game console makers like Sony and Microsoft have been pushing hard over the last few years to make their console systems more than just for gamers.
