I’m often asked when Sony will launch its next PlayStation. Just about everyone is interested in finding out if the next console the consumer electronics giant offers up can be as appealing and popular as its predecessors. The push for Sony to launch a new PlayStation is also born out of the fact that Nintendo is launching a new console this year, called the Wii U. Capcom officially announces Resident Evil 6, reveals trailer and artwork

Following several leaks and a strange viral ad campaign, Capcom has finally confirmed its much anticipated Resident Evil 6. The company not only announced the game, but also revealed the release date along with a trailer and new artwork. BioWare's Mass Effect 3 will use Microsoft's Kinect sensor bar not for motion- and gesture-control but for spoken voice commands that augment traditional gamepad play, speeding up the action by streamlining group tactics and flipping between weapons. Rather than pause the game, use the command wheel to decide non-player sidekick actions and then return to play, BioWare showed VentureBeat how commands like "carnage" can automatically trigger an attack on the opponents you've highlighted. Kinect HD set-top box tipped for Xbox LIVE TV plans

Microsoft’s Xbox TV plans continue to trickle out, with talk of a Kinect-based set-top box for 2012 that would offer streaming multimedia content with a voice and motion controlled UI and sub-$200 price tag. Variously codenamed “Live Xbox”, “Kinect Box” and “Kinect HD”, the new STB will resemble a low-profile version of the existing Kinect, The Daily‘s sources suggest, with a larger base to accommodate power, HDMI and USB ports. Availability has been “pushed back” it’s said, from an original early-2012 window, though it should arrive prior to the next-gen “Xbox 720.”

Xbox 360 gobbled 40% of all 2011 video game and hardware sales

Microsoft really put a beat down on the other major game consoles in 2011 when it came to game and hardware sales. AllThingsD reports that in 2011 the Xbox 360 platform software sales totaled 40% of all games sold. That means that consumers spent about $6.7 billion on Xbox games and hardware during the year. Microsoft investigates Foxconn plant worker protest

XBOX 360 at 66 Million Worldwide, Kinect Nearly Doubling at 18 Million

The post-holiday sale numbers are looking good for Microsoft's XBOX 360 and Kinect. By the end of Q1 Microsoft reported 57.6 million units were shipped. That number has increased by almost 10 million, with some thanks going to the recent holiday season. In a 2011 roundup video released by Microsoft, the XBOX 360 has sold 66 million units. South Park 2012 gameplay looks like the tv show
