Xbox 360 best-selling console for 27 straight months in US

Microsoft is back for yet another month of being on top of the gaming console charts. The company announced today that the Xbox 360 has been the best-selling gaming console in the US for the 27th straight month, selling 261,000 units in March, which is down from 302,000 in February, but it seems it was still enough to retain the lead. Dark Souls sells over 2.3 million copies worldwide

Action-RPG Dark Souls has sold an estimated 2,367,000 copies worldwide, according to the executive director of "From Software" (Dark Soul's publisher in Japan), Eiichi Nakajima. The sales have amazed From Software so much that it decided to launch an Xbox 360 version of the game in Japan. Xbox 720 AMD heart tipped as backward-compatibility cut

Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox may sacrifice backward-compatibility for 360 games in favor of easier cross-platform development for Xbox and Windows PC games, sources claim, following Sony in jumping to AMD chips. The unofficially titled “Xbox 720” will ditch IBM Power PC processors for AMD’s x86-based chips, Bloomberg reports, bringing greater hardware parity to Xbox and PC, and allowing game developers to more easily release titles for both platforms. However, those upgrading from an existing Xbox 360 to the new console may be less impressed.

“Defiance” is both a TV show and a video game
