Xbox One backwards-compatible games list made official

In the old days of console gaming, there wasn't much a worry about backwards-compatibility. You just kept your old machine and games around, and just played that way. These days, consoles don't quite last like they used to, and digital downloads can complicate matters. Starting November 12th, the Xbox One will be backwards-compatible with older Xbox 360 titles. And we've got a list of the first 104 games to be compatible.

Activision reveals 12M still play Black Ops 2 on last-gen consoles

Yesterday we talked about some of the limitations people will see when playing Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on older consoles. The two most notable things are that the campaign has been completely removed, and the FPS will have to switch between 30 and 60 during the multiplayer modes. This leaves some people wondering why Activision would spend the time and resources into putting out a stripped-down version of the game for older consoles. As it turns out, they've got a very good answer.

We've been seeing yearly updates to the franchise for some time now, and that doesn't look to change any time soon. Activision has said that this year's Call of Duty: Black Ops III release will only feature competitive multiplayer modes on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. Xbox 360 update brings 2GB of cloud storage to previous gen

All eyes are naturally on the current generation of gaming consoles, but fortunately for Xbox 360 owners, Microsoft hasn't completely forgotten about them. Yet. The company has finally rolled out its latest system update, collating the previews and features that it has been teasing so far. And while the update brings a lot of new features to the fore, perhaps the highlight feature would be the expanded 2 GB cloud storage. Almost ironically, it's more meant to support the Xbox One than just the Xbox 360 alone.

Minecraft: Story Mode hits PS4, Xbox One on October 13

Minecraft: Story Mode hits PS4, Xbox One on October 13

Good news for fans of either Minecraft or the excellent narrative titles from developer Telltale Games, as the latter's Minecraft: Story Mode is now confirmed to see release on Tuesday, October 13th. While Mojang's Minecraft proper is well-known around the world, its sandbox-style gameplay means there's no real narrative for players. Telltale Games changes that, adding a detailed storyline to the universe across five episodes, much like how the developer released the critically acclaimed Walking Dead and Wolf Among Us games.
