iPhone OS must have been too long to say in general conversation, because Apple have gone ahead and changed the name of one of their most defining pieces of technology. iPhone OS will now, and forever be known as iOS, which is definitely a lot easier to say. Of course, that means that with the introduction of iOS 4, the name will be forever official.
The hits just keep on coming from Apple, as Steve Jobs continues to command the stage at WWDC 2010. While the iPhone 4 was probably the biggest (even if most expected) piece of news announced today, another heavy hitter just hit the stage. The iPHone 4′s camera can take HD video up to 720p, at 30fps, but what good is that if you can’t edit those movies from your phone, right? That’s where iMovie for iPhone comes in, ladies and gentlemen.
Well, that didn’t take long at all. Steve Jobs has come out on stage at this year’s WWDC to blow the socks off everybody out there, and while he believes that the iPhone 4 is, “Beyond a doubt the most precise thing, the most beautiful thing we’ve ever made,” we’ll have to wait and see it in our hands (hopefully today) before we can make a final judgment. But, it’s announced!
When you think about your iPhone, you think about all the cool things that it can do. You know, all those media functions, and downloading, watching, just about anything you can think of (except watching Flash videos, of course). And when the iPad got announced, with Netflix in tow, many iPhone owners out there felt like they were missing out. Well, you've waited long enough, because it's coming very soon. Oh, and so is Farmville. (You've heard of that before, right?)

Well, that was quick. We had brought you a story earlier today, about a particular analyst out there who believed, pretty strongly, that Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, would actually be making an appearance at this year's WWDC. You know, the one that's built around Apple's developer community, and where they're likely to announce the next iPhone. Apparently Ballmer was going to show up to announce something like Silverlight on the iPhone, or to announce iPhone OS and Mac development tools in Visual Studio 2010. Yeah, it was unbelievable, and sure enough, none of it's true.

Apple's June 7th WWDC 2010 keynote is approaching, and thanks to various pre-show leaks of the fourth-generation iPhone HD many are questioning exactly how groundbreaking the Steve Jobs presentation might be. That seems like the ideal opportunity for an analyst face-off: perennial Apple ponderer Gene Munster, of Piper Jaffray, reckons Apple has "little room for surprise" during the event, while Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry is predicting a seven minute guest appearance during the keynote by none other than Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer.

Pushing out a press release confirming that CEO Steve Jobs will be taking to the stage at WWDC 2010 for the opening keynote is unlikely to save Apple from accusations of an over-talkative PR machine, but it all helps pave the way for a likely next-gen iPhone HD debut on June 7th.
