Well, Windows Developer Shai Leib has jumped into the fray, and has introduced a Windows Phone app, dubbed 'Ask Ziggy', that, for all intents and purposes, attempts to rival Apple's Siri personal assistant app for the iPhone 4S. Similar to Siri, Ask Ziggy uses voice recognition technology instead of conventional text entry for search queries. Users can search for directions, flight statuses, financial stock prices, weather, calculation results and other data, using the app on a device running WP7.

Nokia prepares Windows Phone press event for CES 2012
Well, Nokia has just sent out press invitations confirming its plans for an CES press event at the Las Vegas convention center. From the looks of it, the phone company is slated for a presentation the afternoon of January 9, the day before CES formally starts, and the focus is clearly going to be oriented towards something Windows Phone-esque, as the press invitation depicts the (surprise, surprise) Windows Metro UI tile theme.

Microsoft Photosynth Panorama App With Bing Maps Goes iOS Before WP7
Microsoft seems to be on a roll lately launching apps on iOS prior to its own platform Windows Phone 7. After having recently launched a Bing Maps app for the iPad, Microsoft today unveiled a smart panorama photo stitching app for the iPhone and iPad called Photosynth. The app was previously limited to the Windows desktop environment and online, but made its leap today to mobile devices.

Prediction: Windows Phone 7 to be Number 2 Mobile OS by 2015

According to a new IDC forecast for the smartphone market, Windows Phone 7, now the number 5 mobile OS and holding only a 5% marketshare, will shoot up to the number 2 spot just three years from now. Intel: MeeGo Must Go On, Seeking New Partner
Last week Microsoft and Nokia surprised the world with their partnership announcement that has been quite an episode. Nokia chose Microsoft's Windows Phone over Google's Android platform, pretty much sending Nokia's old Symbian to the retirement home and dumping Intel--now the single parent raising MeeGo. Intel's CEO, Paul Otellini, held a meeting today with analysts in London to express his thoughts on Nokia's decision and his plans for MeeGo's future.

ST-Ericsson “Focusing strongly” on the Windows Phone Platform
Mobile chip maker ST-Ericsson is focusing strongly on the Windows Phone platform, to be ready when Nokia starts ramping up production of WP7 phones, according to Reuters. So far, Microsoft has only allowed use of its software on Qualcomm's chipsets, but ST-Ericsson CEO Gilles Delfassy said that would change. "We expect this situation will not prevail. Now everything has changed. The environment is different. We will be ready when Nokia ramps big volumes." he said in a Reuters interview.
