‘Ask Ziggy’, the Windows Phone rival to Apple’s Siri

Well, Windows Developer Shai Leib has jumped into the fray, and has introduced a Windows Phone app, dubbed 'Ask Ziggy', that, for all intents and purposes, attempts to rival Apple's Siri personal assistant app for the iPhone 4S. Similar to Siri, Ask Ziggy uses voice recognition technology instead of conventional text entry for search queries. Users can search for directions, flight statuses, financial stock prices, weather, calculation results and other data, using the app on a device running WP7.

Well, Nokia has just sent out press invitations confirming its plans for an CES press event at the Las Vegas convention center. From the looks of it, the phone company is slated for a presentation the afternoon of January 9, the day before CES formally starts, and the focus is clearly going to be oriented towards something Windows Phone-esque, as the press invitation depicts the (surprise, surprise) Windows Metro UI tile theme.

Last week Microsoft and Nokia surprised the world with their partnership announcement that has been quite an episode. ST-Ericsson “Focusing strongly” on the Windows Phone Platform

Mobile chip maker ST-Ericsson is focusing strongly on the Windows Phone platform, to be ready when Nokia starts ramping up production of WP7 phones, according to Reuters. So far, Microsoft has only allowed use of its software on Qualcomm's chipsets, but ST-Ericsson CEO Gilles Delfassy said that would change. "We expect this situation will not prevail. Now everything has changed. The environment is different. We will be ready when Nokia ramps big volumes." he said in a Reuters interview.
