Garmin has unveiled its latest wrist-worn GPS marvel for those who don't treat exercise as a dirty word, theĀ Garmin FR70 Fitness Watch. A reasonably low-profile half inch thick, the FR70 uses ANT+ to talk to other exercise equipment, such as the bundled heart rate monitor. I think in every place I have ever lived I have stood in at least one room and wondered why the builder put the cable outlet in that spot. Generally, if you want the cable outlet on another wall you end up having to get a new outlet added to the room or running a cable under the floor or across the room. If you live in an AT&T U-verse area you will have a new option starting on October 31 that will make it a snap to get your U-verse box in any room you want, on any wall, without having to use wires or cables even if that room has no outlet. Details of HTC's latest peripheral, the HTC Conference Speaker, have been revealed by the FCC, though the Bluetooth speakerphone isn't entirely as sensible as the business-centric name might suggest. A UFO-styled combination of brushed metal and plastic, the Conference Speaker can be used as a standalone mono speakerphone for up to 10hrs of hands-free calling, or a pair of them can be linked wirelessly for stereo audio playback. The NFC Forum has released its latest specification for the short-range wireless standard, v.16, throwing device to device data transfer into the mixture. TheĀ Simple NDEF Exchange Protocol (SNEP) will allow users of NFC-equipped devices to swap content - such as business card information - simply by holding their phones together.
