Nokia 10-inch Windows RT tablet due February 2013 tip sources

The persistent rumor of a Nokia Windows tablet has reignited, with claims that a 10-inch model running Windows RT is in the pipeline for a February 2013 reveal. According to the insiders, Nokia has been in talks with Qualcomm around using the Snapdragon S4 processor for the slate, with a previous 2012 launch schedule put on ice, DigiTimes reports, after Microsoft itself waded into the Windows tablet market.

Microsoft Surface RT makes first appearance in UK stores

US consumers have enjoyed access to Microsoft's new Surface tablet at brick and mortar stores since launch, but up until today, UK consumers have been forced to purchase their tablets online. Well, this is interesting: it turns out that Microsoft might be planning as many as three new Surface tablets for release next year. HP PC chief: “Kludgey” Microsoft Surface is “hardly competition”

HP's PC chief has dismissed Microsoft's Surface tablet as "slow and a little kludgey" and blamed the tech press for over-hyping what he would "hardly call ... competition" to HP's own products. The folks that see how inexpensive an item is to produce and feel that the manufacturer should have little to no profit over this cost are certainly not going to enjoy what they're hearing from IHS iSuppli about Microsoft today, that's for sure. With a a Bill of Materials (BOM) cost of $271 USD and a $13 USD manufacturing cost, the total cost of the Microsoft Surface RT with minimum 32GB NAND flash memory becomes $248 in all, this placing it well below retail price at $599. IHS iSuppli note that compared to the low-end iPad (that being the iPad 2 in this case), the Surface RT generates a greater profit margin in percentage terms and on a per-unit basis as well.
