HTC “Quietly Brilliant” campaign goes global [Video]

The HTC "YOU" campaign we spotted earlier this month has now gone global, and brings with it a new "Quietly Brilliant" tagline and "You don't need to get a phone. You need a phone that gets you" slogan.  Twenty countries will get the new adverts, including TV spots examples of which you can see after the cut, which all focus on the individuality of HTC's range and the flexibility of things like HTC Sense.

Unlike, say, "there's an app for that", the HTC commercials don't so much focus on the precise functionality of their handsets but the way we use them. They're also platform-agnostic; there's no mention of either Android or Windows Mobile.

Windows Mobile 6.5.1: Windows Phone salvation can’t come soon enough

With Windows Mobile 6.5 proving less than a total success in reviews, and the most hotly anticipated Windows Phone seemingly achieving that status by throwing out Microsoft's UI and replacing it with one schooled on another platform altogether, now seems as good a time as any to ask what happened to the tweaks in later pre-launch builds.  istartedsomething's Long Zheng has pointed out that some of the more finger-friendly adaptations - such as the moved Start button and narrower status bar, shown here in OSNN.net's screenshots - are in fact being reserved with Windows Mobile 6.5.1, an incremental update with no known official release date but already available for various devices through forums.

With only a relatively brief hands-on with the HTC HD2 under our belt, and memories of the laggy Toshiba TG01 worryingly fresh in our minds, you'll forgive us for holding our breath to see exactly what sort of showing the Windows Phone's 1GHz Snapdragon chipset produces.  That breath-holding is, happily, a little less earnest today, having watched The Inquirer's hands-on video with the HD2.

Acer have pushed out their Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone range, and they've segmented the handsets into two different categories.  The Acer beTouch line is intended for style-conscious, "trendy" users, while the Acer neoTouch line are more serious, high-end devices.  Four models have been announced, the beTouch E100, E101 and E200, and the neoTouch S200 (aka the Acer F1).
