Acer Iconia A500, A100 and W500 confirmed for Vodafone

Acer's trio of tablets have apparently been picked up by Vodafone Germany, with the latest out of CeBIT 2011 being confirmation that the three models will all arrive in mid to late April. According to Steve Paine, the Iconia A500Iconia W500 and Iconia A100 are locked in for the German market, though there's no word on whether Vodafone will be offering them in other countries. Windows Embedded Compact 7 released for content-consumption tablets & more

Microsoft's ARM-compatible version of Windows has been released, Windows Embedded Compact 7, intended for tablets, phones, medical devices, industrial systems and retail appliances. The new OS - which went up for download on February 28 - uses a new version of Internet Explorer 7 which borrows "performance updates" from IE8, Flash 10.1 support, Silverlight for Embedded support and the flexibility for OEMs to develop their own unique UIs on top of the underlying platform. AdvanceTC has unveiled a slick looking little computer called the Magix W3 that is hailed as the world's first pocketable Windows 7 microcomputer with integrated telephony. What that means is the little device is like a fat smartphone, but packs in the full Windows 7 Home OS along with hardware that sounds like something you would find inside a netbook. MSI WindPad 110W with AMD C-50 APU and WindPad 100A Honeycomb tablets imminent

MSI is readying a tablet PC running AMD's dual-core C-50 APU, according to sources in Taipei, with the Windows 7 based slate expected to make its debut at CeBIT 2011 early next month. According to DigiTimes' sources, the MSI WindPad 110W will pair the Brazos processor and integrated Radeon HD 6310 graphics with a 32GB SSD. Windows 7 SP1 Available for Download

Microsoft has begun to release the first major update to Windows 7, SP1, to customers around the world today. The download is 1.9GB, and should be appearing in the automatic update area on your Windows 7 PC. Sony's tablet ambitions extend to more than just the S1 in 2011, according to the latest batch of rumors. Loose lips have been flapping, and tipped a dual-touchscreen Android 3.0 Honeycomb clamshell internally known as the Sony S2, along with a 9.4-inch Windows 7 VAIO slider, for release in around Q4 2011. According to Engadget's sources, the Sony S2 will have a pair of 5.5-inch displays sandwiched into an oval cross-section hinged chassis, running a heavily customized Honeycomb install on Tegra 2. What appears to be Dell's roadmaps for smartphones and tablets over the next twelve months have leaked, with mention of Windows 8 for tablets and both Android Ice Cream and "next gen" Windows Phone 7 for smartphones. According to AndroidCentral and WPCentral's sources, four new tablets are in the works: the Dell Gallo in April, followed by the Dell Sterling in Q4 2011 and the Dell Opus One and Dell Silver Oak in Q1 2012, all running Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Nokia considering Microsoft and MeeGo for future tablets

Nokia's tablet strategy may look to Microsoft's platforms and, according to Nokia CEO Stephen Elop, "what they are currently working on", however the company could also use its own platforms, such as MeeGo. Reluctant to comment specifically on the potential for Windows 7, Windows Phone 7 or MeeGo tablet-scale hardware specifically, Elop stressed that Nokia had reserved the right to use something different from Microsoft's range.
