Nintendo posts annual loss: Blames bleeding 3DS

Nintendo has reported its first ever annual loss, with full-year financial results to the end of March 31 2012 showing a loss of 37.3bn yen ($459.54m), though the company predicts a flip to profit in 2013. Selling the Nintendo 3DS at below cost price was blamed for much of the Japanese company's woes, the price cut being "in order to get it back on track to its original sales pace" but biting into Nintendo's profit margin. In the end, Nintendo managed to sell 13.53m 3DS units and 36m games. Read The Full Story

Pikmin 2 reportedly finally coming to the US

Dear Nintendo: Don’t Launch the Wii U This Year

At the E3 Gaming Expo later this year, Nintendo fans are going to get what they’ve been waiting about a year to know: the Wii U’s launch date and price. Even better, they’ll be able to see a host of games slated to come to the device to see if they’ll be worth playing.

But perhaps Nintendo shouldn’t give that gift to consumers this year, and instead, should give itself the gift of discontinuing the Wii U.

Who knows what scientists at the Seoul National University College of Medicine were thinking when they decided to use Wii technology to help diagnose an eye disorder? Called ocular torticollis, patients end up tilting their head to one side to compensate for inefficiencies in one of their eyes. A well established method already exists for a diagnosis test, but researchers decided to try it with a couple Wii Remotes pointed at the subject, and Bluetooth connectivity to track movement.
