Guitar Hero 5 is set to be the first Wii game to offer full loading from SD card, with Activision promising SDHC streaming for the upcoming music title. IGN sat down with the team to discuss the change, which will see over 800 songs together with audio quality, note data, album art, and any mo-cap triggers or song-specific displays fitting on a 32GB SD card.

Thankfully the trusty patent system has given us a heads-up of what might be the next obscure gaming gadget to monopolize the holiday season, in the shape of an inflatable horse-riding controller.
Microsoft have begun to push out the Xbox LIVE update for their Xbox 360 console, and along with the games on demand, new avatar customization and UI improvements comes confirmation that the company has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix for instant streaming to a console. The partnership means that the Xbox 360 will be the only console on which Netflix streaming is possible, effectively cutting the PlayStation 3 and Wii out of the loop.
Reports are coming in that the anticipated next installment of the Tony Hawk skateboarding series has been set for November 17 here in the States, which we’re hoping means all three console-based variations will be hitting shelves on that day.
What a difference a color makes. The humble Nintendo Wii, usually placid and undemanding in its standard white casing, gets a shot of danger, excitement and devil-may-care panache in its black Japanese variant, but that sort of illicit color-thrill is obviously far too much for the US to cope with. Somewhere, in a dark corner of a Nintendo lab, is the company’s own alternative to the DSi. According to the company’s global president, Satoru Iwata, Nintendo finalized the hardware on different handheld gaming system sometime in the past three years, but in the end decided to can the project rather than release it.
