Guitar Hero 5 is set to be the first Wii game to offer full loading from SD card, with Activision promising SDHC streaming for the upcoming music title.  IGN sat down with the team to discuss the change, which will see over 800 songs together with audio quality, note data, album art, and any mo-cap triggers or song-specific displays fitting on a 32GB SD card.

Microsoft have begun to push out the Xbox LIVE update for their Xbox 360 console, and along with the games on demand, new avatar customization and UI improvements comes confirmation that the company has signed an exclusive deal with Netflix for instant streaming to a console.  The partnership means that the Xbox 360 will be the only console on which Netflix streaming is possible, effectively cutting the PlayStation 3 and Wii out of the loop.

What a difference a color makes.  The humble Nintendo Wii, usually placid and undemanding in its standard white casing, gets a shot of danger, excitement and devil-may-care panache in its black Japanese variant, but that sort of illicit color-thrill is obviously far too much for the US to cope with.  Nintendo have confirmed that they have “no plans to have other colors of Wii in the US.”

Not, perhaps, the sort of thing most SlashGear readers will be able to try at home, but if you’ve ever wanted to see a 15 tonne hydraulic grapple controlled by a humble Wiimote then here’s the video for you.  Simon Wittber of Australian firm Transmin is lucky enough to have not one but two remote-controlled grapple arms, each toting a vicious looking six-claw pincer, and so he and his team decided to link up Nintendo’s controller for some afternoon entertainment.

We’re hearing that Nintendo’s Wii MotionPlus accessory is beginning to ship from Amazon, with preorder customers receiving emails telling them their Wiimote add-on is on its way.  The MotionPlus dongle, which clips onto the base of the Wii’s controller, went up for preorder back at the start of May, priced at $19.99; it brings with it greater motion recognition accuracy.
