Reggie Fils-Aime talks Wii U Nintendo TVii delay

The launch of the Wii U is exciting for any Nintendo fan, but one thing that's bumming owners out is the delay of Nintendo TVii. We found out just before launch that Nintendo TVii won't be arriving until sometime in December, when before that announcement, Nintendo had been saying that the service would be patched in at launch. The last minute delay has to sting for some who were looking forward to Nintendo TVii, but in a new interview with MTV Multiplayer, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime did his best to justify the delay. Nintendo’s Wii U arrives in the US

Nintendo’s next-gen console, the Wii U, has hit US stores in the first step of its global roll-out, a tablet-equipped attempt to take motion gaming to the next level. Sales of the Wii U began at midnight in certain locations, including New York City, where Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime counted down to registers opening in front of a well-packed crowd. Meanwhile, Nintendo paved the way for its new model with a last-minute firmware update enabling some of the headline features.

If you're planning to pick up a Wii U this weekend, we're sad to say that it's going to be launching without one highly anticipated feature. Nintendo confirmed today that the Wii U won't have Nintendo TVii at launch, as the service has been pushed back to sometime in December. Wii U software pre-orders top 1.2 million at GameStop

This weekend will be a big one for Nintendo, as it just so happens to be the weekend that the Wii U launches in the US. It's a good time to be a Nintendo fan, and it looks like gamers are plenty excited for the arrival of the new console. Nintendo details Wii U storage limits and no Wii GamePad screen play

The Wii U will not support play of Wii Virtual Console or Wii Ware games on the GamePad tablet controller's screen, Nintendo has revealed, while storage shortages in the Basic 8GB model may make installing games a headache. After formatting, the cheapest Wii U will have 7.2GB of its 8GB capacity (or 29GB for the 32GB model) but the console requires 4.2GB itself, Nintendo confirmed in a new Japanese-language Direct video; that means, with New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land weighing in at roughly 2GB and 3.2GB respectively, gamers won't be able to fit both onto the basic Wii U set at the same time. Read The Full Story

Welcome to Tuesday evening everyone. We had a pretty big day, what with the reveal of the HTC DROID DNA and all. HTC announced that the DROID DNA will be arriving at Verizon on November 21, and we even managed to go hands-on with the device and its wireless charging dock. Of course, today was also the day that the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 became available on the Google Play Store. All but the 16GB Nexus 10 sold through pretty quickly, so we hope you got your hands on the device you wanted before Google put up the out of stock notices. Read The Full Story

IHS: Wii U will sell 3.5 million units in 2012

We're now less than a week away from the launch of the Wii U, and you can bet that Nintendo has fingers crossed for a big holiday season. A new report from IHS claims that Nintendo will have the successful holiday season it wants and then some, predicting that the Wii U will have sold 3.5 million units worldwide by the time 2012 comes to a close. Nintendo president dons Mario gloves for Wii U “unboxing ceremony”

Nintendo may be taking the Wii U launch as seriously as it needs to, given its financial position, but that hasn't stopped president Satoru Iwata from having some fun with an "official pre-release unboxing ceremony." Wii U to add TVii, Miiverse, eShop and Chat at final hour

Nintendo's TVii smart TV system for the Wii U won't be preloaded on the console out of the box, but require a day-one download, along with the Miiverse and other features, its been revealed. Early consoles are already hitting the wild, IGN reports, but TVii, Miiverse, Wii U Chat, and the Nintendo eShop won't be present on them until a software update the company aims to have out on the same day.
