Analyst: Wii U underperformed at GameStop during holiday season
With the holiday shopping rush comes the expectation that console and game sales will enjoy a boost. According to Sterne Agee analyst Arvind Bhatia, however, that wasn't quite the case for the Wii U. Bhatia said in a note today that sales of the Wii U and its games at GameStop have come in under expectations, which is a bit surprising considering that Wii U sales have seemed generally healthy so far.

I have a Wii U. And although I find its motion implementation quite fun at times, and the addition of a second screen a good idea, I haven’t played it at all in the last couple of weeks.
I decided to conduct an informal poll with other people I know who also own a Wii U. I asked them if they’ve been playing with the console much since its launch. Nearly every person said that they played it somewhat heavily in the first week after launch, but little after that.

It looks like placing the Assassin's Creed series in an entirely different setting has worked wonders for the series, as Assassin's Creed III has officially sold over 7 million copies. This milestone comes just over a month after the game launched for Xbox 360 and PS3, which is pretty impressive for any game that doesn't have "Call of Duty" in the title. Welcome to Tuesday evening everyone. Today Angry Birds celebrated its third birthday with a slew of new levels for players, but that wasn't the only thing announced for the celebration. Wii U Japan sales top 300,000 during launch weekend
While players in North America and Europe have been enjoying their Wii Us for a little while now, the newest Nintendo console only launched in Japan this past weekend. We're now hearing the first numbers from the Wii U's Japan launch, with statistics from Media-Create putting the Wii U's launch weekend sales at 307,471. That certainly isn't bad, with Nintendo selling 400,000 Wii Us during the console's North American launch week (which just so happened to be the week leading up to Black Friday).
