Nintendo Wii U bundle ‘Splatoon’ arrives May 29

Nintendo has announced the upcoming arrival of a Wii U Splatoon bundle, which will bring with it the title alongside Nintendo’s Wii U console. The bundle will be available starting next month from Best Buy, and will involve a Wii U Deluxe console, pre-installed Nintendo Land games, and a code to download Splatoon for free. The game is a family-friendly offering, being an action shooter with ink-spraying, customizable characters, splatting, squid transformations, ink-swimming, and more. It'll be priced at $299.99 USD when it drops.

Mewtwo glitch hits Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS

Earlier this week, emails with codes to download the playable Mewtwo character in Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS versions of the title rolled out to qualified gamers (those who had registered both versions of the game during the promotional period). It’s a special perk for those gamers, while the rest of us are forced to wait for the character’s availability until April 28. Mario Kart has gone through innumerable incarnations, and Nintendo Wii U's Mario Kart 8 is about to get even more fun. Nintendo is adding a slew of new features in its latest paid DLC Pack 2, including new race tracks, new bikes, and more. There's also a free software update for the game coming soon. Also incoming are nine additional amiibo figures like Sonic, Pac-Man, and Mega Man. Tapping the amiibo figure on the Wii U touchpad unlocks new Mii Racing Suits themed accordingly.

It's no secret that thus far the PlayStation 4 is winning the current game console war against the Xbox One. The muddled announcements of the latest Xbox with restrictive features and the previous requirement of the always listening camera meant from launch the system was playing catch-up to Sony's PS4. However, some analysts are predicting Microsoft's system to continue to sell fewer numbers all the way into 2018, and by a margin of over 20 million units.

Wouldn't it be grand if you could play your favorite gaming title for free and available anywhere you are? Bayonetta developers Platinum Games might be yielding to that desire with the launch of a new game from the Bayonetta franchise. But there are a few catches. First, it's only really a mini-game that you can probably finish in a few minutes or so. Second, you can indeed play it anywhere, but only inside a browser. And third, you'll have to stomach the fact it is a 16-bit 2D "side-scrolling" game.

Wii U full-sized original Wii games launching this month

Starting immediately, Nintendo is releasing several of the most classic of original Wii games to the Wii U. They'll be doing this with full-sized releases of said games, starting with Super Mario Galaxy 2 - available right this minute. Starting on the 22nd of January you'll be able to roll with "Punch-Out!!", then on the 29th of January you'll find the Metroid Prime Trilogy hitting the Wii U in original Wii format. At this time it's not entirely clear how high-quality the delivery of these games will be - hopefully ready for slightly larger screens than the original Wii was prepped for.

Miyamoto: Nintendo already conceptualizing new hardware

When will you see the next Nintendo console? That’s anyone’s guess, but Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed Nintendo is in the early stages of planning for their next hardware offerings. Speaking to the Associated Press, Miyamoto said Nintendo is working on “new ideas” for their next hardware offering, but are remaining committed to the Wii U. Miyamoto also suggested the next time we see Mario could be on new hardware, a move he likened to Mickey Mouse and new animation techniques.
