It’s been a few months since we last heard about the Wibrain M1 MID – then known as the EKING M1 - and now the company is back flaunting the 4.8-inch touchscreen device all over again.  Still bearing a full QWERTY keyboard, the oversized-Sidekick uses Intel’s Atom CPU paired with WiFi/HSDPA/Bluetooth connectivity.

Chinese firm EKING are apparently preparing to sell the M1 MID – previously advertized as the Wibrain M1 MID – complete with 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 processor, WiFi b/g, Bluetooth and GPS.  The Mobile Internet Device, spotted in its new incarnation by Pocketables, is believed to have a 4.8-inch touchscreen display running at 1024 x 600; it doesn’t skimp on connectivity options either, with EKING giving it WiMAX, HSDPA and a digital TV tuner.

WiBrain’s updated I1 UMPC has finally hit the distributors, and the first details about this split-keyboard, touchscreen handheld are sounding like very good news.  Key changes from the previous model are the optional SSD storage and integrated 3G, and the extended battery life.  First impressions suggest that it’s the battery that’s most impressive: 6.5hrs with wireless options switched on.
