There’s nothing quite like a war between television manufacturers to bring our the WOW factor at CES, and this year’s Westinghouse presentation includes quite the looker – a 110-inch 4K TV that’ll just swallow your room up whole. This machine is not yet ready for the market, but certainly will be soon – coming in at a cool $300,000 USD when you want to pick yours up with your life savings. Of course this machine isn’t exactly built for the everyday consumer, but getting up close and personal with it will br bringing on the heat to anyone’s eyeballs and brain.

This beast is ready to scale up standard HD signal to fill its monstrous full screen display, running native 4K content with the greatest of ease as well. This is but one of several televisions that’ve been revealed this week by Westinghouse that’ll have you raising your eyebrows, the others being 50, 55, and 65-inch versions of this machine starting at $2,500, moving up to the middle with $3k, and ending on the largest for $4,000 USD.

Each of these sets will be available and shipping in the first quarter of 2013 and will be in stores save the largest of the pack. The giant 110-inch model will be made to order, respecting the idea that if you’re going to pay that amount of cash for a television, the company is going to take care of you. Shake hands with Westinghouse with a 4K television this coming season – and play some Mario Brothers while you’re at it to see how giant the pixels are.

It should be made clear that when we got the opportunity to see this 2013 lineup this week, we saw images so bright and so sharp that we’ll have a difficult time ever looking at a lesser machine again. The room these beasts were in were engulfed in their undeniable wave of image power. Have a peek at the images we have of them above and below, but know that it’s not entirely possible to capture their excellence without your own eyes on the spot.

With CES 2011 about to get under way, companies are still prepping their announcements for the “big unveil.” Westinghouse, without providing too much information (on more than one TV), have confirmed that the company will be unveiling a series of new LED HDTVs at this year’s show. Westinghouse will have a flagship model on hand, though. The LD-4655 will reportedly feature a refresh rate of 120Hz, and a response time of 6.5ms.

The flagship model will also have a 3D noise reduction feature, along with a 3:2 pulldown for film content. The LED HDTV will have a two-inch glossy black bezel, and the whole thing will weigh a said 38 pounds. The set will draw only 80W of power while it is on, but only 1W while in stand-by mode. As for pricing, it looks like it will cost $900 when it goes on sale some time in January.

The W3223 also features what Westinghouse Digital are calling DayBright technology, with high-contrast brightness suitable both for sunlight and nighttime viewing. Horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 176-degrees, and there are built-in speakers (though, as ever, if you want decent sound we’d advise you to get an aftermarket surround sound kit, or at least a 2.1 stereo system).

Other inputs include Composite, S-Video, Component and D-Sub VGA, while outputs include a headphone socket and SPDIF. Energy Star complaint, the W3223 is also shipped in recycled packaging, so you can even have a slightly green, eco-chummy glow about you. The Westinghouse Digital W3223 HDTV is on sale now, with an MRSP of $499.

Westinghouse Digital unveiled full a range of LCD TVs and monitor displays at CES last week, ranging from 60 to 120Hz Full HDTVs, to WXGA and WUXGA resolution LCD monitors. These, together with a number of digital signage displays and Westinghouse Digital’s proprietary custom ad-builder applications, were hosted inside the private showroom at the Sterling Club, behind the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, and SlashGear was invited along to take a look.

[more product images after the cut]

The new TX series 120Hz sets, according to the company, are targeting customers looking out for affordable displays with premium features. The three models are 37, 42 and 55-inches, and are Full HD with 24fps capable panels, offering 5000:1 contrast (4000:1 on the 42-inch), 500 nits of brightness, 6.5 ms response time (4ms on 42-inch) and four HDMI connections. All three models are equipped with Motion Estimation/ Motion compensation to reduce judder and increase the smoothness of panning scenes. On 24P sources, the Westinghouse 120Hz displays will perform 3:2 pulldown converting them to 60Hz before doubling the frame rate to 120Hz. Nothing you’ve not already seen from the display market, true, but the keyword here is “cheap”. The TX-37F510Z has a MSRP at just $699, the TX-42F970Z of $999 and the TX-55F350Z of $1599, with anticipated launch dates from May to July of 2009.

Next up were the LCDs, a total of five affordable models each with 60Hz panels, that range from 21.6 to 47 inche of Full HD. There are number of useful basic features but nothing ground breaking here; the same goes or Westinghouse’s seven new 1366 x 768 WXGA resolution LCDs (the specifications of which are listed below).

In smaller-size monitors, the company introduced four new 16:9 aspect ratio LCDs, ranging from 1600 x 900 to 1920 x 1080 resolution fabricated with TN film panels, and one 16:10 PVA panel running at 1920 x 1200 resolution. I was given a product spec sheet which indicated all panels, including the PVA screen, offer 170/160 viewing angles, which could be a typo as the PVA screen definitely looked much better from an angle. All models are tree hugger enabled, eco-friendly displays with EPA Energy Star 4.1 Tier 2 rating, and are fitted with onboard stereo speakers.

Beyond Full HD, the company prepped a $50,000 digital signage LCD with a Quad Full HD resolution (3840 x 2160) of 8.3 million pixels. The business class display has a 56-inch widescreen panel, boasts 50,000 hours of lifespan with 1200:1 contrast, 500 nits brightness, 6.5ms response time and 176/176 viewing angles.

For business use, Westinghouse has a proprietary app to work in conjunction with the company’s displays. I was given a quick demo on the product, an easy-to-use and drag-n-drop ad builder solution to generate text and company logos, and support audio and video inserts with full HD resolution output. It wasn’t ajax but it was certainly very intuitive to use.

A few prototype goodies were plainly displayed with parts and pieces; there was a wireless picture frame with 4:3 aspect ratio screen running at 1280 x 768, a 7-inch portable TV operated on a battery (available Q4, 2009) with ASTC tuner, an IPTV media receiver ($199), and a 3D display beamed by a dual-projector setup (which Westinghouse expect to have on the market in two years time). Still, the main story here is the low-cost, high-performance HDTVs, and in today’s economy you can’t argue with Westinghouse Digital’s focus.

Westinghouse have announced their latest digital photo frame, the DPF-1411, which offers a full 14.1-inches of space to show off your favorite images. Unfortunately, while the 1280 x 800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio are both well and good, Westinghouse foolishly left out WiFi and as such have let the whole thing down.

It’s a shame, because the feature list is otherwise reasonable. Multiple memory card formats are supported, with JPEG and AVI motion JPEG files displayed, and there’s 128MB of onboard storage included too. Images can be displayed stationary, as a manual slideshow or in an automatic slideshow with various different transition effects. It’s also possible to select multiple pictures to be shown on-screen at the same time.

We asked Westinghouse why the DPF-1411 – which will retail for $299 – does not include WiFi. Their argument is that consumer demand for wireless-enabled frames is still relatively low, and that the increased cost and “potential software and network issues that can occur” are putting people off. We’re sticking with the argument that a standalone digital photo frame with only memory card compatibility will, in pretty short order, become ignored, whereas the frame that’s able to automatically pull new images from Flickr and elsewhere online is the frame that gets turned on every day.

Are we so addicted to high-tech gadgets that we’re missing the point? Let us know your thoughts about wireless and digital photo frames in the comments. We’ll let Westinghouse know what you think.

Controls are all touch-sensitive, embedded into the gloss-black bezel, and the viewing angle is 170/160. Westinghouse are particularly aiming the L191HW at graphic design professionals, but the specs would probably make it a decent gaming monitor too.

Inputs include DVI-D (supporting HDCP), D-Sub VGA and an audio input for the integrated 2 x 2.5w speakers. The Westinghouse L1916HW is available now, with a MRSP of $199. It meets both ENERGY STAR and RoHS standards for energy-efficiency.
