, Feb 9th 2011 Discuss [4]

It’s no secret that mobile, namely smart phones and tablets, is the hottest topic in the tech industry today. It’s almost as if companies who don’t have products in these categories are not even in the conversations dominating industry trade shows and conferences.

Had HP not purchased Palm this would still be the case. However they did purchase Palm and now HP finds themselves right back in the middle of this fascinating mobile conversation, this time with a fresh suite of mobile products.

HP / Palm Send Out Event Invite Again, This Time with Engadget Note

, Jan 18th 2011 Discuss [0]

Oh snap. Today, as you might have seen, there was a bit of a break with the HP Topaz and Opal webOS Tablets, of which the renders break credit goes to Engadget. Well HP and Palm saw that. They read blogs, imagine that. They decided that the release of the tablet image might have deterred some people from coming to the event, so they sent out another invite, this one without bothering to BCC the list of emails it was sent to! Odd play indeed. Read The Full Story

Palm Pre 2 for Verizon Appears in Best Buy’s System, Still Not Available

, Dec 31st 2010 Discuss [0]

It's been over two months since the Palm Pre 2 was announced, with the company saying that the Verizon version of the device would be released "in the coming months." The handset's available in Europe, and you can even buy yourself a GSM-based unlocked version of the second generation Pre, but there hasn't been any word on the handset landing on Verizon since its announcement. Of course, there's been rumors, but nothing official. And while seeing the Pre 2 appear in Best Buy's system is no indicator as to when, exactly, the handset will be showing up for sale, at least we know that the retailer is getting ready to sell it. And that's a pretty good step forward. Read The Full Story

Is webOS 2.0 Coming to Palm Devices in Q1 2011?

, Dec 13th 2010 Discuss [1]

Possibly. After having been promised HP webOS 2.0 by the end of 2010, Palm users are still having a little bit of a cry circle. If they'd like to have it, they certainly can, but going to the story to purchase a Palm Pre 2 wasn't exactly what most Palm users were looking for. That's bush league, man! According to Germany's O2 Twitter account, webOS 2.0 wont be loaded to Palm devices now until the first quarter of 2011. WHYYY? I WANT IT NOW! Read The Full Story

HP’s webOS 2.0 On-Screen Keyboard Gets Shown Off in Video

When webOS launched, there was some grumbling that the device, when it came to the Palm Pre (and subsequently released, Palm Pre Plus), focused too much on the portrait-slider hardware keyboard. The absence of an official on-screen keyboard left some people wanting more. And while there were "options" available for those who wanted to travel down some particular roads, Palm seems to want to keep focusing on the hardware keyboards. That should surprise no one, considering Palm's device legacy. But, it looks like webOS 2.0, which launched with the release of the Palm Pre 2, features a software keyboard, even if it is far from perfect. Read The Full Story

, Nov 19th 2010 Discuss [0]

Today WebOS Internals' Rod Whitby sent a few words out in a speech at webOS Developer Day in NYC about webOS Homebrew development. All the way back to a million years ago, 2009, when the Palm Pre was released, to now, and looking ahead. Preware 2.0 Plans include the following: Instant On. Need I say more? Everyone loves that. Currently loading Preware requires a scan and parse of all needed files - in the future, loading packages from db8 will make the whole process more dynamic and quick. Then, the db8 feature will more more easily sync an app to the cloud, allowing it to update in the background. Read The Full Story

, Nov 19th 2010 Discuss [2]

When Palm and HP officially announced the webOS 2.0-equipped Palm Pre 2, we hear that the device would be launching on Verizon in the United States "in the coming months." For HP and Palm, that seems to be the slogan of choice, when it comes to webOS. Today, Josh Marinacci confirmed that webOS 2.0 would indeed be coming to all of the available devices "in the coming months." However, perhaps more interesting, is a new rumor floating around that the Palm Mansion, a name that we've heard floating around before, will feature a 5-inch display. Read The Full Story
