Box.net Now Available as Fully Web-Based Cloud Storage Solution

The folks at Box.net have today noted that they'll be launching a fully web-based HTML5 version of their very popular cloud storage app. This new version will allow any mobile device, for example, running an HTML5-powered mobile web browser to run this now much more universally accessible platform. This new HTML5 app will have the same (or eventually more) functions as the mobile apps that are available on smartphones and tablets today, this app then allowing those apps to perhaps expire should the user want to simply work with the web-based solution. Skyfire VideoQ iOS App To Queue Flash Videos

Skyfire, popular for their mobile browser that enables viewing of Flash videos on the iOS platform, has just released a new iOS app called VideoQ. Luminate Aims to Turn Web-Based Images to Interactive Apps

The folks at the company formerly known as Pixazza, if you've ever heard of them of course, have rebranded themselves as "Luminate", launching today a brand new platform that'll allow web-based images to act as mini-applications. What this will do, essentially, is if you take a look at the image below this paragraph, you'll see several elements that, if you were looking at them in a real-world setting, you'd be able to touch and get a reaction out of. What Luminate intends to do is make that situation a reality inside the web browser with minimal effort on the part of the developer or webmaster who wishes to have said functionality. Chinese Baidu Browser launches in beta form

China is the largest market for search and online ads in the world with its huge population going online in droves. Not too long ago I mentioned that Baidu and Microsoft were entering into a search deal that would see some Microsoft Bing search results integrated into the Baidu results in China. Firefox 5 First Rapid-Release Version Out Now

Mozilla has just released Firefox 5 today after only a few short months since the previous version launched. The predecessor was deemed as the last major release version before Mozilla embarks on a Google Chrome model that will bring shorter faster release cycles. Rather than having new features sit waiting for a major release, now smaller bundles of new features will be pushed out as they become ready, making for new releases as quick as every six weeks. WebSockets, Faster, Cheaper Protocol

WebSockets is a new protocol that allows for real-time communication. It piggybacks along a regular HTTP request and opens up a bidirectional data link.
