If you’ve never seen Keyboard Cat or Nyan Cat, welcome to your first day on the Internet. That aside, both videos, one lovable and the other maddening in a good way, are the source of a lawsuit against Warner Brothers due to its use of them without permission, credit, or compensation to their creators. Game developer 5th Cell was also tagged in the lawsuit.

If you’ve never seen Nyan Cat, prepare to have the 3-minute video stuck in your head for the next ten or so hours. As the lawsuit specifies, the video features a cat-faced character with “a body resembling a horizontal breakfast bar with pink frosting sprinkled with light red dots” (aka, a cat stuck in a Poptart) soaring through the air beyond a tail of rainbows colors. Without further ado, check it out in the video below.

Keyboard Cat, meanwhile, is cute in direct proportion to Nyan Cat’s annoyance factor, featuring a cat wearing a tiny suit jacket in front of a keyboard, jamming away at the keys with a half-asleep look on his face that says, “Charlie Schmidt has made me do this a million times.” You can check it out in its full 55-seconds of 480p awesomeness in the video below.

If you liked those two videos, you’re not the only one – Warner Bros. published a a video game called Scribblenauts that features them, which was developed by 5th Cell. Perhaps unbeknownst to the developer, both videos have been trademarked by their respective video creators. Adding insult to injury, the two characters were used to market the game, a transgression for which Warner Bros. has not yet made a comment. The case is being handled in California.

The latest installment in the Batman video game series, which is set to arrive on October 25 later this year, is rumored to be packing multiplayer functionality. If true, Batman: Arkham Origins will be the first game out of the series to come with multiplayer where you can play as both the protagonist and the antagonists.

According to Kotaku, two anonymous sources have come forward saying that Origins will arrive with multiplayer, being the first to offer such a feature — Arkham Asylum and Arkham City only came with a single player campaign. Kotaku says that one of the tipsters was the same one who correctly predicted the title of the game, as well as the setting (Christmas Eve with snow in the background).

It’s said that players will be able to play as a member of Joker or Bane’s gang with the task of trying to take down Batman and Robin. As for the bad guys who could be playable and customizable in the game include Killer Croc, Deadshot, Firefly, Black Mask, Deathstroke, and possibly Electrocutioner.

For the time being, it’s unsure whether or not the game will come with multiple multiplayer modes, but sources have seemed to hint at the possibility that there may be more than one mode to play with friends. Of course, we’re taking this with a grain of salt for now, but we should be hearing more about the game as it gets closer to its October 25 release date.

We’ve known for some time now that a new Batman video game was going to make its way into 2013, and today we finally get to know about some more details on that front. Batman: Arkham Origins was revealed today, and it’ll be releasing on October 25 for the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PC. Howevever, Origins is a prequel to Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.

Game Informer announced the game by unveiling the cover to their May issue, which has Batman on the front decked out in his usual gear. The game is being developed by Warner Bros. Montreal, who will be taking over for Rocksteady Studios, who developed the last two Arkham games. Aside from the console version, Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will release on the same day for the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita.

The upcoming game’s plot includes eight of the world’s deadliest assassins all coming together in Gotham City on Christmas Eve to target Batman. The game takes place before both of the previous Arkham titles, and it will feature a “young, unrefined Batman,” who will encounter many supervillains for the first time. Deathstroke will be one of the villains in the game.

As for Blackgate, the game will be a “completely separate experience” from the console version, and the events in the game take place after the events in Origins. Armature Studio is developing the game, and it will be a 2.5-D Metroid-style exploration game, which could prove quite interesting.

We can’t say we’re too surprised by this, but based on the success of Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, Warner Bros. has announced that a new Batman Arkham title will be releasing sometime later this year. The company made the announcement at their quarterly call to investors just recently, and said that Rocksteady Studios will be kept on to develop the new game.

Of course, we sort of knew that a new Batman game would come eventually after we discovered that Warner Bros. locked in a handful of Batman Arkham-related domain names. At that point, it was inevitable. However, the only details that remain are the title of the game and what to expect as far as the storyline and and new features.

Among these handful of domain names, though, were some that could considered the title of the next game in line. “Arkham Universe,” “Arkham Legends,” and “Arkham Stories” were all registered by Warner Bros., so we could see any of these as possible candidates, or it may have just been Warner Bros. covering their scent to trick any rumormongers.

Warner Bros. and Rocksteady Studios released Batman: Arkham Asylum in 2009, and then released Batman: Arkham City in 2011. So, it certainly makes sense that the two companies are sticking to an every-other-year release cycle for the series. Arkham Asylum was released in August, while Arkham City was released in October, which means we could see the third installment arrive at around that time as well.

Netflix customers in the US will soon get a host of new shows coming their way, thanks to a content-licensing agreement between Netflix and two content providers, Turner Broadcasting and Warner Bros. Television Group. The deal means that tons of new shows from Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, TNT, and more, will be making their way to the streaming service as soon as late March.

Netflix’s exclusive Arrested Development production won’t air until later this May, so while eager fans are waiting for the show’s return, they’ll be able to catch up on shows like Adventure Time, Ben 10, the Green Lantern animated series, Robot Chicken, Johnny Bravo, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and TNT’s Dallas, which will join Netflix in January 2014, while the rest will come on March 30.

This licensing agreement comes just one week after Netflix announced an earlier deal, which focused primarily on live-action shows, and it appears that Netflix and Warner Bros. are becoming increasingly friendly with one another, which is both good for the two companies involved, as well as the consumers.

With the ever-increasing back catalog of TV shows, Netflix is becoming a dominant figure in the streaming media realm, hosting not only TV shows, but a respectable collection of movies as well. And every time the service makes another deal with a content provider, it becomes more and more tempting to cut the cable cord.

Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City are widely considered to be two of the best superhero games ever created, with each launching to critical acclaim and wild commercial success. Naturally Warner Bros will want to keep its Batman gravy train rolling, and today we’re hearing about 15 new Arkham-related domains the publisher has on file. Does this mean a new Arkham game is on the way? Almost certainly.

Of course, you’ll want to take any rumors with a grain of salt until we get official confirmation from the company, but after the success of the first two titles, the idea that Warner Bros would just let the series linger seems silly. The domains were uncovered by Fusible, and were apparently filed by MarkMonitor, a brand protection company Warner has turned to in the past in an attempt to keep secrets from getting out. There are 15 domains in all, with each one using the word “Arkham” in one way, shape, or form.

The list includes domains such as arkhamuniverse.com, dcarkhamverse.com, batmanarkhambegins.com, and batmanarkhamstories.com. At the moment, none of the 15 domains actually lead to any kind of website, so it’s pretty clear that Warner is just sitting on these for the time being. If these are for an upcoming video game, it seems that “Arkham Universe” would be the mostly likely name, though with a list of 15 potential titles, Warner definitely has plenty of options.

Then again, these may not be for a video game at all. With Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy now finished, Warner may look to the successful Arkham series of games as the inspiration for a new Batman movie. While a new Arkham game seems much more likely, it would be foolish to rule out anything when we’re talking about money. Stay tuned.

Amazon has signed a deal with Warner Brothers Television that will see the online retailer gaining access to televisions shows such as Fringe, The West Wing, and Alcatraz for its Prime Instant Video service. Anyone who subscribes to Amazon Prime gains access to on-demand movies and TV shows that can be accessed via a multitude of devices, and now Warner’s TV catalogue will be added to the list of available content.

Amazon says that Fringe and The West Wing will be available this summer exclusively on Prime Instant Video, a subtle dig, perhaps, at Netflix and other streaming services. Customers will be able to watch video on a wide variety of devices like the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Roku streamers, plus various tablets. As of writing, Prime Instant Video has around 18,000 movies and TVs ready to stream.

The popular online retailer has been ramping up its content deal as of late. Earlier in the year it added shows from The Discovery Channel and Animal Planet, plus movies from Magnolia Pictures. The company is also hoping to produce original content for Prime Instant Video, a similar strategy to Netflix and Hulu. Amazon began accepting pitches for shows back in May, with successful writers getting a chance to earn $10,000 if the company options the idea.

Wondering how Rocksteady is going to follow-up on the near-perfect Batman: Arkham City? According to sources speaking to Variety, we aren’t headed for another sequel, but instead a prequel that will feature Batman’s Justice League team mates. Yes, you heard right – apparently ol’ Bats won’t be alone in his next video game outing, as he’ll have the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman around to give him a hand.

According the rumor, the next Batman game from Rocksteady is set during the silver age of comics (which began in the mid-1950s, ending around 1970) and will focus on the Caped Crusader’s first encounter with the Joker. The game also covers the formation of the Justice League of America, which suggests that characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and Green Lantern will appear in some capacity.

A game that focuses on the early days of the Justice League would definitely be one to pay attention to, especially if it’s coming from Rocksteady. Though this is merely a rumor at this point in time, it definitely isn’t outside the realm of possibility, considering Rocksteady has said in the past that it would like to branch out and make video games about different superheroes.

Here’s hoping that Warner Brothers gets the ball rolling on such a project, if only because Superman is in dire need of being associated with something that’s actually good.

The folks at Warner Brothers Games are bringing the heat this week at E3 with a game for the Wii U that will make full use of the newest iteration of its Game Pad with Batman Arkham City Armored Edition. This game will take you on what Warner Brothers president Martin Tremblay says is a “must-have experience on the Wii U”, complete with a B.A.T. mode of gameplay that’ll have you deeper in Batman’s boots than ever before.

This version of the game was described by Reid Schneider of WB Games Montreal whose studio was responsible for this version of the game for the Wii U exclusively. He describes gameplay that includes using the GamePad with gyroscope, touch, and button/joystick controls. This mode of play is called B.A.T. mode and takes on quite a few of the gameplay elements we’ve already seen in the regular edition of Arkham City like the remote-control Batarang and Explosive Gel and puts them deeper in your control than was possible on any other platform.

From your controller you’ll be able to access all menus, both in the game and out of it, with Batman’s full utility belt as close to your own as you’ve ever wanted it to be. Check out the video above courtesy of Nintendo to see the awesome Armored Edition action, and head below for all the Batman Arkham City sweetness you could ever desire.

Also note that this release comes rather soon after the newest and perhaps final chapter in the Dark Knight saga in the film world: The Dark Knight Rises. This film will be 2 hours and 45 minutes (so says AMC via MTV Stay tuned to SlashGear for more information on that film as we inch closer and closer to the premiere!

If you are a fan of Netflix streaming or kiosks that are operated by Redbox and Blockbuster, Warner brothers is not going to make you happy with the latest announcement. Warner Bros is set to make us all wait longer to see the flicks it produces in an apparent effort to force more of us to purchase their flicks rather than rent.

It used to be that if you wanted to rent a movie from Warner and many of the other major studios, you might have to wait as long as a month before you could get your hands on it. There was a 28-day delay between the launch of the film on DVD, and it coming to kiosks. Warner has made a new deal with Netflix, Redbox, and Blockbuster that will double that delay to 56 days.

The longer delay is all in the name of propping up sagging DVD sales. The sad part is you can bet since the three movie rental/streaming firms accepted the deal other studios will follow suit. After 56 days, I’m not going to rent a movie that I haven’t seen, it’s off my radar completely and the only flicks I buy are kid’s movies that my kids will watch repeatedly. I for one sincerely hope that Warner Brothers sees the profits fall even more. If it wants to spur DVD sales, make your movies cheaper and put them on the market faster, not slower for rentals. They don’t seem to understand that renting or streaming is the only way many of us watch their films.
