Sony Ericsson have announced two new Walkman-range cellphones, and they seem to have been looking in the Pokémon book of names for the duo.  The Sony Ericsson Zylo with Walkman and Spiro with Walkman each support FLAC lossless audio together with TrackID, but also throw in social networking integration with Twitter and Facebook. Sony B150 Series & W250 Series Walkman MP3 players launch

Sony has announced two new ranges of MP3 players, targeted at the budget market.  The Sony B150 Series Walkman has the familiar memory-stick form-factor, with a 3-line LCD display and basic controls, while the Sony W250 Series Walkman squeezes everything into a set of earphones.  2GB and 4GB versions will be available of each, though only MP3 and WMA (non-DRM) files types are supported on the B150; the W250 can also play AAC and Linear PCM files. Sony Walkman X firmware update v1.10 boosts browser

Sony have outed a new firmware release for their Walkman X PMP, and the headline feature is an improved browsing experience.  The new software tweaks the NetFront browser into rendering pages faster, maintaining layouts more like what you'd see on a desktop, and boosting scrolling speeds. Sony flexible OLED notebook concept gets second outing

Sony may not have made any significant changes to their flexible OLED laptop concept since we saw it first at CES back in January, but the sleek prototype is so alluring that SlashGear Japan couldn't walk past it at CEATEC this week without grabbing a photo.  Intended to showcase the potential of ultra-thin OLED touchscreens, the concept combines both display and keyboard into a single, flexible layer. Sony A840, S740 and S640 Walkmans debut [Video]

Sony Japan have announced a bevy of new Walkman PMPs, the NW-A840, S740 and S640.  The A840-series gets an OLED display like its X-Series sibling, but in this case its a regular display rather than a touchscreen.  Still, it manages to be the thinnest Walkman to-date, at just 7.2mm thick, despite that 2.8-inch display, up to 64GB of storage and a battery apparently good for up to 29 hours of music playback or 9 hours of video. Sony Walkman S-Series and E-Series PMPs get official

Sony have officially whipped the wraps off of their latest two Walkman PMP models, the stereo-speaker-packing S-Series that you can see here, and the entry-level E-Series shown after the cut.  The S-Series - first spotted earlier this month - has a 2.4-inch QVGA LCD display supporting 30fps video playback, together with offering up to 17hrs of audio playback via the speakers. Sony's upcoming S-Series Walkman has leaked, prematurely listed at French retailer materiel.net.  Two versions of the PMP are detailed, the 8GB Sony NWZ-S544 and the 16GB NWZ-S545, each with a 16:9 aspect QVGA 2.4-inch LCD display and integrated stereo speakers. Read The Full Story

Sony Walkman E440 and B140 arrive in UK this month

Sony UK have announced two new Walkman PMPs, the E-series and formerly Japan-only B-series.  The Sony E440 is set to take on the iPod nano, with a 2.0-inch QVGA display, 9.3mm thick chassis and Clear Audio technology which promises to reduce left/right stereo leakage between the channels together with control low-end bass without distortion. Sony Japan have announced a new range of B-series Walkman PMPs, in the shape of the NWZ-B142F(JE).  Not a snappy title, but the PMP claims to make finding the track you want more straightforward courtesy of its ZAPPIN feature, that runs through your music playing a five-second snippet from the middle of the song. According to the latest "open secret" in Japan, Sony are working on a Walkman and a satnav PND that would each use Google's Android OS.  Expected to hit the market in 2010, full details about each device are unknown, beyond that Sony seem to be hoping to use the open-source platform for a range of future products.
