Saints Row franchise gets hot: the spoiler interview

This month we had the opportunity to have a chat with Jim Boone, Senior Producer for Deep Silver Volition, about the Saints Row game franchise. With both Saints Row: Gat out of Hell and Saints Row IV: Re-Elected out now, it was time we found out what was going on with this double-release, and where Saints Row was headed next. We began by speaking with Boone about the company's reasoning behind releasing a stand-alone expansion for Saints Row IV instead of developing a whole new "full sized" game.

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell Review

Saints Row: Gat out of Hell Review

If you're a fan of the Saints Row game series, Gat out of Hell is going to feel a lot like coming home. If you've just played Saints Row IV this past weekend - while it was free on Steam - you're going to feel like you're playing the next chapter in the same game. That's what Gat out of Hell is, after all - not a brand new title, but the second part of a saga started back when Earth was invaded by Zinyak in the year 2013. Now it's time to turn those computer-generated superpowers in on themselves and head down to Satan's pits, a place where instead of digital nonsense, you'll be working with good ol' analog killing goodness: blood, lava, and heavenly (or hellbound) magic.

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell gameplay first impressions

Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell gameplay first impressions

Review time is nearly upon us, but we got the game a bit later than expected. Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell is a game we're going to give a little bit more time to than the less-than-a-day we've had with it thus far - but for now, here's some gameplay to skewer your eyeballs with. This game is decidedly more metal.

Saints Row 666: Armageddon teased by Deep Silver

Welcome to the next chapter in the Saints Row saga. The team at Deep Silver Uk have made with the teaser for the next installment, and there’s no hint of the number 5. Five would make general sense, given the last four were called Saints Row (insert number here), but there’s no sense when it comes to the attitude and general cockiness of the Saints Row series.

Saints Row 5: details emerging

Saints Row 5: details emerging

It’s very, very early to start speaking about Saints Row V if you’re only considering the details that’ve been released by Deep Silver / Volition. It’s also early so suggest that the game might be near completion, given the amount of time that’s passed between each successive release in the series. But the rumblings have begun, nonetheless, and the first official details could be here as soon as August 29th, 2014.

Saints Row SDK coming soon: modding community taking hold

Saint's Row is a game that's brought a rather odd assortment of open-world experiences to the fingertips of PC gamers for several generations. It's a game that exists in the Grand Theft Auto-like universe of open sandbox playability: here offering a place for gamers to run around like wild, doing whatever they might, driving, interacting with fellow characters, and everything in-between. This world is strange, and with Saint's Row IV, it's about to get a lot stranger: but up until now, the game has been closed to the modders of the world.
