Vodafone has become the first UK carrier to throw its hat into the BlackBerry Bold 9900 ring, confirming that it will offering the BlackBerry 7 OS smartphone later this year. The handset, announced at BlackBerry World 2011 yesterday, will be the first to run RIM's new smartphone OS, and has both a touchscreen and a QWERTY keyboard.

Cash-coy Vodafone UK users won't have to worry about paying for taxis any more, as long as they can spot one of the carrier's sponsored cars. A fleet of "hundreds" of Vodafone-branded cabs will take to London's streets from today, offering not only in-car chargers for rejuicing your phone, but the ability to pay for the fare on your handset, just as long as you're a Vodafone customer.

Our good pals over at Vodefone have created a video in which they take phones from throughout their own lengthy history, spraypaint them white, and project lovely images toward and on them in order to show a magical video taking us all through the history of mobile. This is what they're called "the first small-scale projection mapping installation using a hand-held camera." Whether that means they just filmed it going through the steps with a handheld camera (looks like it) or if the projector is a hand-held device is up to debate.

Sony Ericsson has confirmed shipping delays that could mean the XPERIA Play might miss its April 1 release date in the UK at some carriers and vendors. SlashGear was contacted by several XPERIA Play pre-order customers who had received a Vodafone update that, due to a hiccup in Sony Ericsson's delivery process, their pre-orders would not arrive on April 1 as promised.

Acer's trio of tablets have apparently been picked up by Vodafone Germany, with the latest out of CeBIT 2011 being confirmation that the three models will all arrive in mid to late April. According to Steve Paine, the Iconia A500, Iconia W500 and Iconia A100 are locked in for the German market, though there's no word on whether Vodafone will be offering them in other countries.
