Dilithium added Live TV and VoD supports for Blackberry

dilithium blackberry livetv1 480x430Research in Motion’s popular line of Blackberry devices do not have any soft of TV tuner incorporated, but the subscribers will be able to browser, view live Tv and VOD content steaming with the added support of Dilithium Content Adapter (DCA). Basically, it’s much like mobile entertainment services such as SlingBox media and Tivo mobile apps on RIM phones you probably have heard. The different, according to Dilithium, unlike most devices that allow only browsing DVR content and scheduling, the DCA is the only product on the market that supports Live TV and VoD streaming.

Blockbuster ramps up VOD service with Sonic Solutions

After launching its first on-demand set-top box, which uses 2Wire’s streaming video player to offer instant movie download though TV set; Blockbuster teams up with Sonic Solutions to expand its video library and digital download services though a variety of consumer electronics devices.

Tivo adds Disney and Jaman VOD content

tivo small logoStarting next week, Tivo subscribers will get VOD contents from Disney film and Jaman.com straight from their DVRs. The company has inked a new deal with the Walt Disney Studios and Jaman to add number of CinemaNow’s Disney films and Jaman’s independent and international flicks to Its S2, S3, HD, and HD XL DVR Set-tops.

Vudu’s HDX gets official, not a threat to Blu-ray

Just weeks ago words got out that Vudu was testing a new format of HD download with quality equivalent of Blu-Ray, and today the HDX is out officially. The new format encodes video at variable bit-rate of MPEG-4 H.264 format in 1080p at 24 frames per second, and promises to deliver twice the quality of any VOD contents currently available on the market.

Netflix adds Starz movies, 2500 titles for online streaming

Netflix strikes a three-year deal with Starz movie services provider to offer Starz movies available for online streaming. The agreement allows the World’s largest online movie rental service to add additional 2,500 Starz Play movies to its Video On Demands’ library of 12,000 movies and TV episodes.

Cable Network to offer VOD with Same-Day-DVD service, more money for studio

I don’t care how affordable and technology breakthrough in HD VOD industry, they can’t replace disc unless given same-day availability as DVD releases. Vudu got their first taste with Bourne Ultimatum in HD, now is Comcast turn.
