Viliv’s X70 UMPC goes on sale today through importer Dynamism, and as we’ve already reported there’s a clutch of goodies for the first 777 buyers.  Priced from $599, the X70 has a choice of 1.2GHz or 1.3GHz Intel Atom processors and SSD storage from 16GB; we’ve already seen one very positive review; now jkkmobile has put up his own video review of the X70 Premium 3G, the HSPA-equipped version of the 7-inch touchscreen device.

We already knew the Viliv X70 would start from a terribly reasonable $599, but now we’ve heard from importers Dynamism that presales for the 7-inch UMPC will start at 1PM EST on July 6th.  The first shipment of the Atom-based touchscreen handheld is expected on July 28th, and just to make sure every one of those gets a new home to go out to, there are a few tempting offers available to those who preorder.

Importer Dynamism have announced pre-order pricing for 3G-enabled HSPA version of the Viliv S5 MID.  Available for some time now in Korea, the US Viliv S5 3G will not carry the “Air” title as it does there, but will still come with SSD storage.

After Palm’s big moment last weekend, Apple once again seized the headlines with their WWDC 2009 keynote on Monday morning.  We showed up to liveblog the whole announcement, expecting a new smartphone, and the company delivered in the shape of the iPhone 3G S – twice the speed, twice the storage, and the same styling as the iPhone 3G – together with a launch date for iPhone OS 3.0.  However, Apple weren’t content with just that: they also brought along a new MacBook Pro range complete with integrated batteries; check out our video unboxing and first-impressions.

We’ve already seen enough of Viliv’s X70 to know it could arguably be the company’s best device to-date, and now the first full review of the 7-inch UMPC is in from our friend Steve over at UMPC Portal.  He describes the X70 as “the best 7-in Tablet UMPC we’ve ever tested”, praising its great build quality, long battery life and impressive web browsing and media playback.

Attention for the MID platform seems to be increasing every day, and the poster-children of the new ultraportable revolution are Viliv’s S5 and X70.  The 4.8-inch S5 paved the way, and now even hitherto-doubtful people seem to be paying attention to the 7-inch X70, not least because of its $599 starting price.  jkOnTheRun’s James Kendrick is one of the few people with both Viliv models on hand, and he’s been answering questions about the pair in a video which you can see after the cut.

It’s had nowhere near the coverage of their S5 MID, but the Viliv X70 looks set to gain a whole lot more attention now that preorder pricing has started to emerge.  Importer Dynamism is listing the X70 for $599; whether or not you think that’s good value for a 7-inch touchscreen UMPC with 6 days standby, it’s certainly well priced against the S5.

From a web tablet render to one almost on the market.  Viliv’s X70 UMPC may have only half the screen size of the CrunchPad, but it’s capable of a whole lot more than simple web browsing and media playback; jkOnTheRun have followed up their first-impressions video with a more comprehensive usage report.

For the past few months, nobody even vaguely interested in MIDs could’ve escaped hearing about Viliv’s S5.  Now, the company is obviously hoping to drum up the same enthusiasm about their X70, another Atom-based device but this time with a larger, 7-inch WSVGA touchscreen.  The first review device has landed over at jkOnTheRun, and that can only mean one thing: a first-impressions video.
