Verizon rekindles buyout talks with Vodafone

Vodafone currently owns a significant portion of Verizon Communications. Sources who claim to be familiar with negotiations between Verizon and Vodafone are saying that talks have started up again concerning Verizon possibly buying out Vodafone's stake in the company. If these sources are accurate, any buyout would cost Verizon a huge amount of money.

DROID Maxx Review

In the DROID Maxx is Motorola's vision for longest-lasting battery life in a device that's part of a very close-knit family of smartphones all released in the same generation. There's a DROID Maxx, a DROID Ultra, a DROID Mini, and the Moto X. These devices deliver essentially the same experience as one another, with only minor differences between each of them. The DROID Maxx provides the most premium experience of the series.

Verizon Moto X available online first: in-store in coming weeks

The Motorola smartphone known as Moto X is not going to be available from Verizon in-store for a while - "in the comping weeks" they're suggesting today. Meanwhile Verizon has let it be known that the device will be available online starting on the 29th of this month - you'll just have to sample its abilities in the rest of the DROID series in-store or through one of SlashGear's several hands-on experiences.

LG Enact Android slider keeps Verizon in the QWERTY business

LG Enact Android slider keeps Verizon in the QWERTY business

It's not as if the LG Enact was the last device on the planet to offer a full physical keyboard with Android software - though the most recent entry with Verizon was the BlackBerry Q10. This LG device brings a sliding front panel that reveals a full QWERTY keyboard much in the same way that the Motorola DROID 4 did back in February of 2012. There's also a near-identical device by the name of LG Mach that was released earlier this year - not that you'd need to know that if you're sticking with Verizon.

DROID Maxx Unboxing and Hands-on

DROID Maxx Unboxing and Hands-on

It's time to get a look at the largest of three DROID devices released this week by Motorola and Verizon: the DROID Maxx. This device takes on a form that's remarkably similar to the DROID Ultra, including software and hardware, but brings on a significantly larger battery and slightly different backside casing to differentiate. Here we've got essentially the same device as we showed yesterday in our DROID Ultra review, but with a lot longer battery life and a double-down on internal storage.

Nokia tablet rumor round-up: Snapdragon 800 with Windows RT

Nokia tablet rumor round-up: Snapdragon 800 with Windows RT

One of the current longest-lasting rumors on a device that's not yet seen the light of day is the Nokia tablet - this week appearing again as a Windows RT device and with Verizon 4G LTE. This machine has appeared in renderings, in trademark applications, and in talk directly with Nokia - and here in the summer of 2013, it may finally be time that the tips converge. What we may have here is a 10.1-inch tablet running Windows RT with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and a release window for Autumn.

DROID Ultra vs Moto X: anything you can do, I can do better

This week the DROID Ultra hits the review bench at SlashGear, bringing with it a full understanding of how closely it'll be resembling the Moto X in features that - surprise - Google and Motorola implemented on the whole family. What we've seen thus far is a device that's only ever-so-slightly pulled in to the Motorola universe for apps - with a dash of Verizon, while we're at it. Essentially everything Moto X offers in a smartphone, DROID Ultra brings with just as much fury.

DROID Ultra unboxing and hands-on

The full second wave of DROID devices is hitting Verizon this month, with the DROID Ultra - the device landing on SlashGear's review bench today - sitting at the heart of the family. This device is the middle-ground, so to speak, between the DROID Maxx - with a similar size display and larger battery, and the DROID Mini, a reboot of the DROID RAZR M. Here we're seeing a sort of remix of what Motorola's reboot of the RAZR series should by default be bringing - boosted specifications - and what's appearing with the Moto X (software and hardware-wise).

The Verizon HTC One has been tipped and tipped again - confirmed, suggested for release, then moved again - now the company has released an official teaser with September 5th attached. This release of the 4G LTE Verizon edition of the HTC hero phone has been long awaited - ever since it was first understood that, after a possible dismissal of the device due to their carrying of the DROID DNA, Verizon was rumored to have seen the positive reviews in the media of this device, letting HTC know right then and there that they'd want to work with the machine before the end of the year.

UPDATE: Verizon now confirms that the HTC One will be appearing for sale on the 22nd of August - how's that for a final drop?
